Glamour Shots stores are independently owned franchises of a national company. As such, each store will have its own policies and prices. What is OK or acceptable in one store may be unacceptable in another. Similarly, their practices and policies will vary from one mall to another, and from one area to another. Also, keep in mind that the people who work in your local Glamour Shots store may have their own sensitivities which should not be imposed upon.
I always try to keep two ideas in front of my alter ego in these situations. First, you have to have enough confidence in yourself and in what you are doing so that others know you don't think you are doing something wrong. Second, you have to remember that to achieve your purposes, you need the help of others. I can ask for help in five languages, although I won't usually understand the answer right away. Still, it gets the conversation off in the right direction when first they agree to try to help you.
I've almost succeded in training my alter ego to ask for directions, but he's a slow learner. :-)
As for prices, Glamour Shots prices will vary depending on current special promotions. In general there are two components to the prices: a sitting fee of from $15 to $30 or so, which covers the makeover and photo shoot, and a separate charge for the pictures you wish to order, if any. Because of the video proof system, you can choose your pose(s) and print sizes while still in the store, and there is some price break for doing this. I paid a little over $100 for my alter ego's makeover, my sitting, and one 8x10 print and the photo proof sheet. I think I'm worth it -- do you?
