Fan Reviews

Allusson (Bordeaux, France) writes, "Salisbury is my favorite UH album, because of it's marvelous title track, very progressive and experimental: a classical, jazz and rock fusion during 17 mn! You can also find strong tracks in it: the nostalgical The Park, in a YES vein and the beautiful well known ballad sung by KEN (who has a very similar voice to DAVE in fact). For the hard rockers, Birds of Prey is very good one too (not a coincidence they are on Eagle Records now...)."

Fakruddin Ahmed (Dhaka, Bangladesh) writes, "A truly great mystical rock album of the earlty seventies. Obviously they were one most underrated band in the history. May be reason was presence of so many contemporary good bands like Deep Purple, Led Zepp, Black Sabb, etc. The title track is masterpiece of drumming. I don't care about the lyrics."

Miroslav Kala (Brno, The Czech Republic) writes, "It's the best album of Uriah heep. I love it. Especially The Park."

Ozgur Erdem (Istanbul, Turkey) writes, "Bird of Prey is maybe the song featuring the best vocals."

Richard Brown (Lake Wales, Florida, USA) writes, "Biggest fan ever!!!!"

Bruce Medici (Coventry, Rhode Island, USA) writes, "The Salisbury LP by "Heep" was and is probably the most underrated album of all time...because it never shows up on anybody's "fav" list, nor is it ever compared to any other album of historical importance. WELL...lets fix that matter right now! Salisbury is their second album, released during a period when so many new groups were still performing live. There was an overabundance of music coming out of Europe still... the Heep had gotten poor reviews in the us on their first album. Rolling Stone called them one of the worst new bands--that album is my 3rd favorite, but we will save that one! Salisbury was ignored except for an occasional plug of Lady In Black ---- but the second side is what draws one in. The entire side consists of just Simon the Bullet Freak and the title cut. Even many long time Heep freaks seem to pull away from this side of the album... No,it is not Demons And Wizards but I'm glad!!! Listen to this song/classical masterpiece of delight! I learned how to play progressive rock/jazz through this piece more so than "Yes" or "Rush" who have never quite been able to master combining themselves with a Classical orchestra! And there's also a pretty song or two on side one. And yes, here in America people do not have a clue that those guys are responsible for many sounds they hear today, many of which come from Salisbury!"

Matthew Braymiller (Niskayuna, New York, USA) writes, "I have been a fan of Uriah Heep since the late 70's and I loved the Salisbury album from the very start. The title track rings in at almost sixteen and a half minutes. I think it was one of the best expressions of the band at that time in their history. It was far reaching and expressed every aspect of the band so well. Rich with intricate weaving of sound, power and passion, it is so typical of Uriah Heep. Then there's the song High Priestess. Wow, power again! This album also has the song Lady In Black. I think this is still my favorite Uriah Heep track, and my favorite "rock" song period. The song The Park is typical of Uriah Heep's softer side, very introspective and rewarding. The first four Uriah Heep albums are absolutely essential to any collection, and Salisbury stands out among them as a true work of art."

Valentine (Saint Petersburg, Russia) writes, "The Park - is the best song in the world!!!!!!!"

Manuel Barrios (Santiago, Reg Metropolitana, Chile) writes, "La verdad es que amo a Uriah Heep."

Max Aebischer (Baden, Switzerland) writes, "One of the most underrated albums. No point to write about, just go back to the album and start to listen!!!!!!!"

Marco Antônio (São Paulo, Brazil) writes, "It‘s beautiful, very very .....
It‘s cool."

Kostas (Athens, ag.Paraskevi, Greece) writes, "I believe that this album is the best ever Uriah Heep have created in the old classic rockscene."

Roger Gößmann (Schweinfurt, Germany) writes "Salisbury is a long epic number which I really enjoy listen to. This album is a step in the right musical direction. It shows them experimenting with arrangements and musical ideas. High Priestess is a very powerful song. David Byron's vocal performance has developed."

Bruno Sausmikat (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) writes, "Salisbury is the best."

Brad Duren (Oklahoma, USA) writes "This might get me flogged, but I never really cared for this album. Lady in Black is fantastic, and I like The Park. The rest seems like an ambitious vision that fell just short of success."

David (Ashdod, Israel) writes, "The best album in my opinion is Salisbury."

Hacer Eriskin (Istanbul, Turkey) writes, "Uriah Heep is the one of the bands that effect me deeply. I discover them while I was a Deep Purple fan. After I have listened Salisbury, Look At Yourself and Demons and Wizards I decided that this band better then DP. David Byron's vocal is incredible, music is not static, you never know where the song goes to."

Todd Pence (Fairfield, Virginia, USA) writes, "Much more polished and self-assured than VEVH, although not yet quite grade A Uriah Heep. The album's greatest strength is its title track, the fruition of Heep's early experimental stage. It also may be paradoxically its greatest weakness, as it dominates the album and allows room for only five other songs, none longer than 5 1/2 minutes, not leaving much room for the diverse blending of songs that is the hallmark of the best Heep albums. Still, all the songs on here are good, and Lady in Black is an all-time Heep classic."

Boris Schnitzer (Nazaret Ellit, Israel) writes "Salisbury...is my personal fave. The best thing ever done by anyone!!!"
