Connors memorial service was held on the day he was due to be born. Although it was a very sad day, it was also very beautiful. The service was intended to be a tribute to his unique spirit and a celebration of his life. Here I would like to share with you the poems and tributes that were read out for him during the day. |
EULOGY So many of you didnt get the chance to know Connor personally, so there are some things I'd like to share with you so that maybe he can touch your hearts the way that he has touched ours. Like how much he loved ice-cream; he used to wriggle for hours whenever we ate ice-cream. Or chocolate, he liked that too. And he loved the movies, and Bob the Builder and taking baths with mummy. Like how he was really naughty and would never stop shifting about during his scans at the hospital, or when his mummy was trying to sleep. And how he would kick people's hands when they prodded him through my tummy or talked to him. Like how he had the cutest little face and sticky out nose, like a wee mouse. Like his tremendous spirit. He was so very sick yet he battled every day to stay a little longer. He should have been weak but he kicked away, so that his mummy would know he was okay. Like how he taught me how to love. How he made me complete. How he drew people to him like a magnet. How he is my inspiration and my light. Like how he is the most precious person in my world and how he will live on forever in the hearts of all those who were privileged enough to know him Goodnight and God Bless, love Mummy |

"You're Always Near" Just because I can't see you, doesn't mean that you're not near and times when I call out your name, I'm sure that you can hear. You're there in every grain of sand every pebble on the beach. You're there in every star that shines but always out of reach. You're there in every fluffy cloud, floating beyond the blue. You're there in every drop of rain and drop of morning dew. You're there in every breath of wind that whispers through the trees. You're there in the song the birds all sing. You're inte air I breathe. You're there in every rainbow, in every ripple of the sea. You're there in every leaf that falls from the branches of the trees. You're there in every sunset as the day draws to a close. You're there in every prayer I say, in every line of praise. You're there in every snowflake, drifitng from the sky. You'll be there in every sunshine ray, until the day I die. Dorothy Cockram |
"May you always have an angel by your side" May you always have an angel by your side watching out for you in all the things you do, reminding you to keep believing in better days, finding ways for your wishes and dreams to come true. Giving you hope that is as certain as the sun, Giving you the strength of serentiy as your guide. May you always have love and comfort and courage and may you always have an angle by your side. Someone there to catch you when you fall, encouraging your dreams, inspiring your happiness, holding your hadn and helping you through it all. In all of our days, our lives are always changing, tears come along as well as smiles. Along the roads you travel, may the miles be a thousand times more lovely than lovely. May they give you gifts that never ever end; someone wonderful to love, and a dear friend in whom you can confide. May you have rainbows after every storm, may you have hopes to keep you warm; and may you always have an angle by your side. Douglas Pagels |
Letter From Heaven To my dearest family, some things I like to say, I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned. But first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay. If I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand. I'm writing this from heaven, here I dwell with God above. But one thing is for certain, though my lifeon Earth is o'er Here there's no more tears of sadness; Here is just eternal love. I'm closer to you now, that I ever was before. Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight, There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night. But together we can do it by taking one day at a time. That day i ahd to leave you, when my life on Earth was through, It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too; God picked me up and hugged me and He said "I welcome you. That as you give unto the world, the world will give to you. Its good to have you back again, you were missed while you were gone. If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain, As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on. Then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain" There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man." God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do And now I am contented...........that my life was worthwhile;, And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you. Knowing as I passed along the way I made somebody smile And when you lie in bed at night the day's chores put to flight So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low God and I are closest to you.....in the middle of the night. Just lend a hand to pick him up as on your way you go. When youthink of my life on Earth, and all those loving years, When you're walking down the street and you've got me on your Because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears. mind But do not be afraid to cry: it does relieve the pain. I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind. Remember there would be now flowers, unless there was some rain. And when its time for you to go......from that body to be free. Remember you're not going.......you're coming here to me. Richard Mahaffey 1995 |
