Closing
tidbits: Even though we both wound up with Dengue Fever we would venture there again! We missed out on a lot that we wanted to see, and need to hit those spots to round out our BVI experience. It was the best vacation I had in years and a memorable 40th birthday present for the skipper. I would definitely charter again from the Moorings even with the slight trouble we had. They did later issue me credit to make good on their 4 hour guarantee to use toward a future charter. I just needed to call the Corporate office in order to get it sent to me but there was no argument to be made (maybe it helped that I said I was already making plans to book yet another). We didn’t really use all the split provisions and I would probably in any future charter to BVI simply get the ‘easy on the cook’ version since it was obvious we preferred going ashore for dinners. One of the things we didn’t really check out on the boat prior to leaving was the flashlight supplied. Good thing I had also brought extras since the batteries were dead in the one onboard. I’m not quite sure what the story was with the water supply, but since it was cheap enough to replace I made no mention of it other than to the debriefer. Many
people had commented on just how short this charter was, and it was not enough
time to do much of anything. To
this I would simply respond that I would always rather take a short sweet hop
over not going at all. There was plenty of time to get acquainted with the
BVI’s given the relatively short distance and sail times between the islands.
It makes it easier to decide what to do on a return trip!
(North Shore, Sandy Cay, Bitter End, the Dogs, White Bay) Oh…and I’ll
learn how to use the damn windlass! Now…it’s
time to plan the next trip!
