Day 4 – Saturday November 10, 2001 Rise and shine! After a very windy night where I felt us swinging around quite a bit we had a somewhat relaxing morning before we finally made way across to the Bight once again for a lunch stop.
Morning leaving Jost Jim prepared lunch of the fish we had as one of our dinner selections we opened the bottle of wine and had a relaxing lunch and swim. We then took a cruise back across the channel towards Sopers Hole to secure a mooring early, get some ice, and fresh water since the tank seemed to not have been filled prior to leaving. After we managed this we grabbed a mooring and dinked back over to Pusser’s. We hit Pusser’s for a Painkiller or two and a snack (pizza) we peeked in some of the shops in West End where I just picked up some postcards and a flash camera. I didn’t bother to hit the Pusser’s shop since I can easily get to the one in Annapolis. Somehow I preferred the less commercial aspects of Little Harbor over the more upscale West End. We dinked back to the boat where I took a swim and we mixed a container full of cosmopolitan’s and relaxed and thought about dinner and where there might be some excitement for the evening. We had heard that there might be something over at the Jolly Rodger so that was our destination.
Dusk Falls over Sopers Hole Onboard over drinks we watched as the power seemed to go out onshore for awhile and Jim wondered if the goats had chewed through the power lines. After cleaning up for din-din again we jumped in the dinghy and were off to get our fill. Night had fallen and it was dark. As we approached the Jolly Rodger I noticed a spotlight shining down illuminating the dinghy area. As I grabbed the line to secure the dingy I noticed some thrashing around in the water. When I went to investigate I saw more than a dozen black tip sharks! Jeeezzz….I was just hoping that they had no bigger brothers hanging around in the area since I had not even given it a thought when I was swimming. My thoughts were more focused on “yuck..there are a lot of boats that use this harbor and everyone just pumps out” After being teased somewhat about the sharks we headed into dinner. We both ordered the Prime Rib and rum punches. When the waitress presented me with my dinner I couldn’t contain myself when my eyes popped out and I exclaimed “Holy Sh*t!!” to which she laughed….It was a huge portion of prime rib complete with grilled vegetables and large steak fries, every bit was delicious. I almost finished the entire meal which is unusual for me. I would have to say this was the best dinner we had the whole trip. Since
there didn’t seem to be much of a party going on we headed back to Pusser’s
only to find it closed at 10PM! Everything
was closed…(this is a Party Place??) When
I indulged in the luxury of not having to use the marine head I actually had one
of the Pusser’s staff shut the lights off on me – last call to pee I guess. Thank God I escaped before she locked me in.
Since nothing was happening we dinked back to the boat hit the Pringles
and fell asleep in the open air of the cockpit for a spell before we stumbled
