Into the next millenium with Holderness Ranger Guides ....
For some time now 1st Paull Guides has had a problem with falling numbers. This is due to factors beyond our control - there are very few girls of Guide age in the village, with no prospect of any improvement in the foreseeable future, and lack of public transport in the evenings means that girls from other villages are unable to get to Paull.

After long and careful consideration we have finally decided to bow to the inevitable. Paull Guides will close for good on July 20th 1999, the remaining two 11 and 12 year olds transferring to 3rd Hedon Guides in September. But that is just the bad news - the good news is ..........

Holderness Rangers will be launched on September 14th, with Paull Guides' seven 14 and 15 year olds plus the older girls from Hedon Guides and, hopefully, other units in the District. With this nucleus of loyal girls to build on, we will not only be the newest Ranger Unit in the county, we will be THE BEST!!!

DECEMBER 1999 update: Holderness Rangers has now been up and running for a full term, and we are very happy to announce that our numbers are now up to 13 girls, ranging in age from 14 to 18!

So far, besides our usual weekly meetings, we have been ice-skating, been to the pictures (followed by MacDonalds, of course), hosted the Christmas Pantomime by a visiting drama group (and provided several of the actors!) visited the local retirement home to entertain the residents, and had a "posh do" for Christmas at a restaurant. Next term we have a sailing holiday scheduled and initial plans for our summer camp are already well in hand.

MAY 2000 update: Well, our Ranger Unit has gone from strength to strength: we now have seventeen girls registered including several who have not been Guides or Brownies. Our sailing trip has been and gone - click here if you want to see what we got up to - and now we are getting down to the detailed planning for our summer camp at the end of July (and a barbecue...and go-karting...and swimming...and archery...and abseiling...get the picture?)
