Well, I think I'm slowly starting to get used to the idea of having another baby.  I have to admit, though, I was in SHOCK!!  (Let's just say that those pills DON'T ALWAYS work!!)  I found out Monday.  This is going to sound funny, but I was brushing my teeth and I started gagging.  I immediately panicked because this was always the sign with my other two pregnancies!  (I have a really strong gag reflex when I'm pregnant.)  So I took a home test, and sure enough...the line was blue!  The next day I went into the Dr and they confirmed it.   The Dr said with the pill I was on, I had about a 4% chance of conceiving.  I guess this baby is meant to be!  --Truly a gift from God.  This pregnancy sure is a far cry from our first baby.  We went through 18 months of "trying" and several months of infertility treatments to get pregnant.  They never did figure out the problem.  I guess whatever it was, it's "fixed" now!  Anyway, yesterday I went in for an ultrasound to make sure everything was ok, and they saw the heartbeat!   The Dr. thinks I am about 7 weeks pregnant.  My due date is April 23rd -- Easter!  :)  I am feeling quite tired and nauseous.  But by now, with this being my 3rd pregnancy, I'm used to it!!!  :)

I am sooooooooo tired!   And nauseated.  And hungry!  --I am just RAVENOUS all the time!   I'll eat a huge meal, and 5 minutes later, I'm physically hungry again!  So, lately I fill the days chasing after my two little ones (almost 3 and just turned one,) eating, and sleeping.

Well, we've told most of the family now, so I guess I can go ahead and publish my journal online.  :)   Everyone was very excited for us.  We're keeping the grandparents supplied with grandchildren, so they're thrilled!  I'm feeling pretty much the same as before:   tired and starving!!  And, of course, nauseated.  Just when I think it's getting better, WHAM!  I get hit with another bout of nausea.  But I think I'm keeping a pretty good attitude about the whole thing.  (My husband might not agree!)   :o)  We told our little boy, Gage (he's almost 3) that Mommy has a baby in her tummy.  He said, "Well, we better get it out of there!!"  :)

Look at this wonderful gift I just received!

Thanks so much, Cindy!   I love it!  I don't look like that yet, but SOON, I'm sure!!  :)

Well, not too much new to report today.  I seem to have a little more energy today, so that's good!   But the nausea and the hunger remain.  Also, I'm starting to show already!   I'm only about 10 1/2 weeks along, but already my waist is disappearing and my tummy is poking out.  I guess that's what happens when you get pregnant three times in three years!  LOL!

The nausea is getting better!  Yea!!  I can actually keep food down for pretty much the whole day now!   I'm glad it's getting better.  (knock on wood!)   I also have noticed that I have cravings with this pregnancy, where I didn't with my other two.  I crave RED MEAT!!  Any red meat is good, but what I REALLY want is prime rib!  (My husband would prefer I had cheaper cravings, like hotdogs or something!  LOL!)  I also have many food aversions.  I can't stand the sight (or smell) of chicken, broccoli, or peanut butter.  These are all things I normally love!  I'm sure these will come back, but for now, they're off my list!   (Gimme prime rib!!)  I have a check-up coming up Friday.  I'll write more after that.  Hopefully we'll hear the heartbeat!  :)

We heard the heartbeat!!!  It doesn't matter how many times you go through pregnancy, hearing your unborn baby's heartbeat is the most wonderful sound in the world!  (Second is hearing, "I love you, Mommy!"  Or how about my son Gage when he says, "You're pretty, Mommy!"  What a smart boy!  Hee hee!)  ANYWAY, the heart rate was really fast!  It was between 155 and 160!!  Gage's heart rate was fast also.  Lexi's was slower.  I think that goes against the old wives tale that girls heart rates are supposed to be faster. The appointment went really well.  The Doctor says my weight gain is good -- I was up 4 pounds.  And they still think my due date of April 23rd is pretty accurate.  That puts me at 11 weeks right now.  The first trimester is almost over!  Soon the nausea will be gone!  The nurse gave me a great recipe for combating nausea.  I thought I'd list it here just in case anyone reading my journal is going through what I am!  Here is the recipe...

Ginger Lemonade

Add 1/2 cup grated ginger to 2 quarts of hot water.  Allow to steep for 20 minutes.  Strain and add the juice of 3 lemons.  Add 1/2 cup of honey.  Cool, add ice, and sip!   Enjoy!

I have been SICK SICK SICK!!  Oh gees, it's been pretty awful.  Just when I thought it was getting better, it got worse.  Last weekend, I could not keep ANYTHING down.  Not even water.  It's gotten a little better since then.  But I get so sick and nauseated just smelling any kind of food.  I don't even want prime rib anymore.  (gasp!)   I am reluctant to call the doctor because I don't really want to take anything for the nausea.  Even though they say it's perfectly safe, I still worry that they don't know about effects 20 years from now.  I know, I'm paranoid.  I need to call the doctor.  It's getting to the point now where I'm worried that the baby isn't getting enough nourishment.  The 4 pounds I put on has vanished.  I'm not surprised though.  Today was a little better.  I ate a good dinner and -- so far so good!   :)

Well, we went out and bought a Suburban today!  It's HUGE!  We needed something that would hold three kids and three carseats.  And the strollers, diaper bags, etc. that goes along with the three kids!  I love to drive this rig -- I feel like I'm King of the road!   I just can't park the thing.  :)  Well, I'm still sick.  But it's getting better.  I can at least hold down most of my food!  I just get really sick if I have to cook.  (Sounds like a great excuse to go OUT and eat!)  I just can't handle the smells of cooking.  By the time I'm done, I don't want to eat!   I'm officially in my second trimester now!  And, I'm also really starting to show.  I'm only 14 weeks, but already I have to wear maternity pants.  That's ok, though.  I never really minded maternity clothes.  They're a lot more comfortable.  And at least people start to figure out that you are pregnant, and not just fat!  :)

P.S.  Happy birthday, Mom!  And happy birthday to my Gage.  Three years old tomorrow!   What a big boy!  :o)

My friend Karen sent me a really funny article about pregnant women and their hormones.  Click here to read it!  :)  It's so true!! Thanks, Karen!

Well, I think I REALLY may be starting to feel better.  I'm still a little nauseated, but I'm keeping food down a lot better now.  I really hope this is the beginning of the end of my "morning sickness."  I'm at 15 weeks now.  According to "Your Pregnancy Week-by-Week," (by Glade B. Curtis) my baby is the size of a softball now.   Wow!  It's really growing fast now.  I'm starting to experience a lot of round ligament pain these days.  It just feels like aches along the sides of my uterus.  I notice that if I stand up really fast or change positions quickly, I really feel it.  My next appointment is next Tuesday, November 2nd.  I'll update more then.  In the meantime, Happy Halloween, everyone!  :o)
