Agnes attended high school in Madelia, MN and worked as a clerk at the Harry Haycraft general store before her marriage.
According to Agnes' cousin, Edith Buschow Luther, Agnes Heger was known as ``Big Agnes'' and Edith's half-sister, Agnes Baker (later Peach) was known as ``Little Agnes'' in Edith's family.
Agnes died because she had to have surgery for a ruptured appendix. This was done at St. Francis Hospital in Waterloo. As part of this operation, they had to deliver the baby by cesearian section. She underwent surgery for the appendix on March 23. The baby was born the 24th and died the 25th then later Agnes also died.
I think her death caused some hard feelings by her mother who thought the operation should have been more straightforward.
Lu Caswell and Agnes Heger were apparently friends back in Madelia before Agnes married. An article describing Agnes' wedding shower appeared in the newspaper. The shower took place at the home of Mrs. Mary Hutzig, which is the house where Agnes was born. They held a mock wedding at the shower and Lu acted as the ``weeping bride.''
