In Memory Of

Jesse L. Clifford

Jesse L. Clifford
December 18th, 1931 ~ December 12th, 2003

My father Jesse passed away this morning around 8 am on December 12, 2003... he was suffering from
 liver cancer.

He was born and grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on December 18th, 1931.

He joined the United States Navy during the Korean War at a very young age in 1951.

Jesse Clifford and Larraine Gilligan were married on March 1952.  They and had six children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

After the Navy Jesse worked as a saw repairmen and later a foreman for the "Davis Saw Company".  He worked there for 42 years. He worked long, hard hours and did an good, honest job.  He was described as a "great worker" by those who worked with him.

Jesse built the 8 runs which would become Doppelt-Tay Kennels.  He put 4 in the garage and 3 in the basement.

He served two years as President for the German Shepherd Dog Club of Western Pennsylvania in the early 70s.

Jesse encouraged, pleased, advanced, sided with, smiled upon, strengthened, and comforted my late mother Larraine. He went with, opened doors for, promoted, upheld, served, assisted, picked up after, accommodated, and sponsored her through out her struggles and successes with Doppelt-Tay.

Larraine's success is still felt among the breed today.  I think Jesse is a remarkable man.  He deserves the same credit as Larraine as he was her strength and love, as he was her own.

Jesse lost the love of his left when Larraine died. Jesse loved Larraine and after he lost her he never considered remarrying.  He never claimed to be perfect but later in his life he found the amazing love of God as evidenced by his letters.  He always closed his letter signed "GOD IS LOVE"

We buried him with Larraine. The grave is very nice and has two German Shepherd  Dog's heads on the top left and right hand corners. It already set last 23 years.  We will always really miss him.

We want to thank all of the German Shepherd people for all their support in prayers during these hard times.  We will never forget Jesse's role in our lives and the lives of so many others.

God Bless you always....
