iv John Gaines BRECHEEN/BRACKEEN b. 9 Sep 1840, Limestone County, Alabama, m. (1) 20 Jan 1867, in Limestone County, Alabama, Mary Govenor "Gove" STINNETT, m. (2) 5 Apr 1883, in Limestone County, Alabama, Sally Evelyn STINNETT.  John died 2 Jan 1933, Wills Point, Van Zandt Co., Texas.  Mary: Two of Mary's siblings, Elbert Hartwel and Clemon Clay Clemmontine Stinnett petitioned the Dawes Commission t become citizes of the Chickasaw Indian Nation, because of their Indian lineage.  Both of her siblings took up residency in Indian Territory in Oklahoma.  There is also a statement that some of the same lineage had filed to become members of the Cherokee Nation; however no papers were ever produced as supporting evidence. At this point Mary would represent about a one-quartrer Indian blood; however there are other females in her lineage that may be of Indian blood.  Certainly there is very early evidence that the Stinnetts married into Indian lineage. Sally: Sally is also repeated to be of Indian lineage; however it would depend upon whether Wylie Blondt Sr. belonged to Abigail Poindexter/Colbert.  It appears that  Wylie Blondt, Sr. was the youngest child of William's first marriage; therefore if Sally was of Indian lineage, then it would have had to be through a separate mother of the common father, William, who was also of Indian lineage.  My research leads me to believe that both could be possible.
    55. v Josiah BRECHEEN/BRACKEEN b. Abt 1843.
      vi George Samuel Houston BRECHEEN/BRACKEEN b. 23 Apr 1845, Tennessee, m. (1) Betty GRAY, m. (2) Della WILLIAMS, m. (3) 13 Mar 1871, Martha Tabitha BARKER.
vii Andrew J. BRECHEEN/BRACKEEN b. Abt 1847, Alabama, m. 26 Feb 1869, in Limestone County, Alabama, Mary Mahala WEATHERFORD, b. 31 Aug 1849, Limestone County, Alabama, (daughter of Andrew Jackson WEATHERFORD and Mary Ann LAPINGTON) d. 5 May 1903, Limestone County, Alabama, buried: Berea Cemetery, Shanghi, Limestone County, Alabama.  Mary: In the 1870 Linestone Alabama Census following data is shown:

    Andrew Weatherford - age 56 w/m - Farmer - POB AL Mary                          - age 46 wf - Keep hse - POB AL ? Carverr                    - age 13 w/m -Farm Labor -n POB, AL O------? Lucy              - age 9 w/f - ???????POB, AL

    Living next door:

    Andrew Brackeen    - age 20 w/m - Farmer - POB, AL Mahaley  &nnbsp;                - age 20 W/f - Keenp hse - POB, AL

In the 1880 Linestone Alabama Census the followind data is shown:

    Jack Weatherford    - age 65 w/m - Farmer - POB, AL Mary Weatherford p;   - age 60 w/f - Keep hse - POB, AL Jane Brackeen        - age 29 w/f Daughter at home - Divorced

I am inclined to think the above two Census involve the same Weatherford people including the wife of Andrew Brackeen.

Then from the Hunstville Advocate, March 9, 1869, we have the following:

Married on the 24th by Elder J. H. Dunn, Mr Andrew Bracken to Miss Mary Weatherford, all of Limestone County.

Again I can't help buth think these are the same as shown in the Censuses; however for the life of me I cannot understand why the Weatherford connected to Andrew J. Brackeen carries different names in each of the three documents.

This information is from Linda Moon.

viii Mary F. BRECHEEN/BRACKEEN b. Abt 1849, Alabama, m. (1) 24 Dec 1869, in Limestone County, Alabama, Hiram A. BRECHEEN/BRACKEEN, m. (2) 24 Mar 1874, John T. HOUSE.  Both Mary and Hiram were in their respective parent's homes in the 1870 Census even though their marriage had taken place in December, 1869.  Then Mary Marries John T. House in March 1874.  Since Mary and Hiram were first cousins, I am wondering if their marriage did not receive the blessings of their respective families.

    Information from Linda Moon.

35. J/Joseph ? BRECHEEN/BRACKEEN b. Abt 1820, Tennessee, m. BEF 1844, Sally BULLARD, (daughter of Benjamin BULLARD and Margaret BRANDON). J/Joseph died Abt 1860.  It is a possiblility that this son is the MS Brackeen, J or Joseph R and for the purpose of including this family into this line of Brackeens, I am projecting him as a descendant of James until other information either support or negates this connection.  From Linda Moon.
