The Boys Are Back
"Welcome Home!!"

I created this page to welcome home my Husband
and the other members of the crew aboard The
USS Carney as well as The USS Kennedy Battle group
when they returned from being deployed for 6 months
in the Mediterranean while serving in the US Navy.

The Carney Returns
Written by: L.J.Reed, 08 Mar. 2000

They Left in September
at times it seemed so long.
March 17th is nearly here
and the boys will soon be home.

The excitement is building,
preparations are underway.
The cleaning, new clothes,
and hair styles fixed that special way.

We all gather on the pier,
bouncing children, delighted wives,
aunts and uncles, those special friends
we've had for our whole lives

The ship pulls in slowly,
anticipation begins to build
Faces scanning faces
the ship pulls closer still

The ship is pier side,
it's tied in place,
The crowd starts moving,
no need for us to race.

Our men are back now
We touch, hug,and kiss,
and let them know how
very much they
have been missed.
