About Doug

I am 47 years old and are living with my partner Shelley and the 2 kids Nicole 11 and Sean 9. Both Shelley and I own a 7 day a week Dairy situated in the main street of Gisborne.

My racing career started back in 1973 crewing on the late Collin Topps Mini which I owned the following year, and raced my first race at the Tokoroa track. I've raced saloon cars all my adult life.

I got into Speedway through my father, I can remember going out to the Speedway when I was only 7 years old, tagging along with my Dad and my brothers and sister. My Dad used to be the official Starter for the Gisborne Speedway for as long as I can remember until he fell sick in 1993 where he finally had to give it away, but he still came out to the track to give his moral support.

It took me ten years to qualify for my first New Zealand Saloon Car Championships.
