Verb Stem

Most conjugations are derived from adding a different ending to the stem.

"AR" Ending  Verbs

  • Hablar - Habl -- (TO SPEAK)

  • Visitar - Visit   --  (TO VISIT)

"ER" Ending Verbs

  • Comer - Com -- (TO EAT)

  • Vender - Vend --(TO SELL)

"IR" Ending Verbs

  • Vivir -      Viv --     (TO LIVE)

  • Domir -   Dom --    (TO SLEEP)
Of course, there will be exceptions and stem changing irregular verbs,

but these root stem rules will apply to hundreds of conjugations.

Memorize the ending rules and always look for the STEM.
