Installation Instructions
1986 1/2 -93 Nissan Hardbody
2wd & 4wd King Cab and Standard Cab
1.  Read all instructions carefully before you begin.

2.  Block tires so vehicle will not roll.

3.  Disconnect the battery cables. Be sure to disconnect negative cable first.

4.  Check bed alignment to cab and record measurement.

5.  Drain radiator. (save coolant)

6.  Disconnect all hoses and remove shroud and radiator.

7.  Remove wiring harness from clips on fenderwell on passenger side. 

8.  Remove ground wire from firewall.

9.  Remove brackets that hold power brake lines to firewall and remove brackets that hold throttle cable to top of firewall.

10.  Remove brake lines from clips on passenger side front, firewall and fenderwell.

11.  Remove vacuum lines from clip on passenger side of frame.

12.  Remove bracket holding power steering hose to front of frame on passenger side. 

13.  Remove the two bolts from cab straps under rear of cab and ground wire.

14.  Remove bolts from brackets holding smog lines to driver's side on fenderwell.

15.  Recheck all wires, hoses, cables, etc. in engine compartment for sufficient length prior to lifting cab.

16.  Remove steering column:

a.  Mark the splines on the steering shaft at the steering box so the column can be reinstalled exactly as it was removed.

b.  Remove bolt at steering box.

c.  Remove upper and lower plastic column cover and lower dash panel and then disconnect all wiring on column.

d.  Remove floorboard cover around column flange.  Remove all nuts on firewall flange.

e.  Remove two dash bolts and remove column from truck.
 
17.  Remove the transmission and transfer case shift boots.

18.  Remove rear jump seat if so equipped.

19.  Remove kick plates and pull carpet up from floor so that you can reach bolts.

20.  Loosen 6 cab bolts. 
Do not remove.

21.  ON 2" KIT ONLY;  Before lifting cab remove the two bolts from the rear of the cab.  Use a 1/2 inch drill and drill through the threads, be sure to drill all the way through to the inside of the cab. 
ON 3" KIT; this is not necessary. The rear cab bolts will screw into the existing threads.

22.  Remove bolts from left side of cab.

23.  Jack up left side of cab 2".  Double check slack in wiring  Be sure to use wooden blocks on top of jack to protect vehicle. 

24.  Continue jacking cab up until all side lift blocks can be set in place on rubber frame pads.  (use the big blocks for the cab).

25.  Insert the cab bolts.  Install hardware but
do not tighten.

26.  Repeat steps 22-25 for right side of cab. 

27.   Install two steel spacers 2x3 with holes on cab straps but
do not tighten.  Install ground cable extension to cab. 

28.  Remove fuel filler hose and vent from filler neck.

29.  Loosen bed bolts. 
Do not remove.

30.  Remove bolts from left side of bed.

31.  Jack left side of bed up approximately 2".  Double check slack in wiring.  Be sure to use wood blocks on top of jack to protect vehichle. 

32.  Continue jacking bed up until all left side blocks can be set in place on rubber frame pads.  Install 2x3 steel spacers at the center bed on frame; you will tack weld these later.

33.  Insert body bolts.  Install hardware and fasten but
do not tighten.

34.  Repeat steps 30-33 for right side of bed.


35.  Check cab and bed alignment then tighten all cab and bed bolts.  Tighten cab straps.

36.  Cut fuel filler hose and install extension. Use hose clamps and fasten securely (
3" kit only).

37.  Install new fuel vent hose with clamps and tighten securely. 

38.  Cut or grind stock lower radiator mount out.  Cut just behind stamped holes on sheet metal from frame rail to frame rail.

39.  Place new radiator bracket in place of stock bracket.  Center new bracket between the welded nuts on cross member.  Scribe two small marks on cross member for holes for new bracket and drill two 1/8" holes.  Use two 12x1" sheet metal screws to fasten bracket to cross member. 

40.  Install two radiator drop down brackets to stock upper radiator mounts.  Instal radiator and shroud to new mounts.  Reinstall all hoses.  Check for fan clearance.  Refill with coolant. 

41.  Install new fuel vent hose on passenger side of firewall.  Install power steering bracket to extension then to the frame on passenger side. 

42.  Remount smog lines on driver's side and throttle cable to firewall and power brake line to firewall.

43.  Remount rear jump seat if so equipped. 

44.  Re-install steering column:
3" kit only

a.  Use a grinder and remove the stock firewall flange from column.

b.  Install column in truck.  Install new firewall flange onto the column.  Fasten nuts but
do not tighten.

c.  Install dash spacers onto dash.  Place the spacers so that the long slotted end points towards the firewall.
