The ex-lawyer sighed and rose to his feet - it wasn't as though he couldn't take a hint, and this suggested, most obviously, that privacy was desired. some privacy.
Remembering his lack of dress, Lindsey turned towards Angel's cupboard and drawers - there had to be something in them for him to wear.
He was just about to go through the second drawer, sweat pants carelessly dangling around his neck, when he heard an almost inaudible whisper.
"Please, you can't just leave me... I need you..., please..." the vampire sobbed.
What the heck was wrong with this vampire?!
Then it hit him - Angel!
The two of them had to be lovers.
Why else would he be in Angel's bedroom?
Forgetting about the tee shirt he'd been digging for less than ten seconds ago, Lindsey heavily sat down on the polished parquet felling sick to his stomach. Maybe he should just forget about the whole thing, take what little he owned and get the hell out of here?
He couldn't say why he felt so very betrayed and sick - what had he expected? That Angel would proclaim his undying love?
"Buffy! Luv! Please, please don't leave me..." the vampire whimpered.
Buffy? Lindsey's heart skipped a couple of beats. As in 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' he wondered. His radar - or the part of him that still sort of responded to his W&H training - immediately went off. What an opportunity!
Quickly stepping into the bulky trackies, Lindsey swiftly went back to the vampire's side.
"It's alright, I'm here..." Lindsey reassured the brunette. As before, he started to rub the other man's back, listening as the whimpering decreased and eventually stopped.
Puffy, red eyes peered at him through a fist-sized whole in the blanket.
Once again Lindsey felt his heart painfully clench and unclench at the silent display of grief. Unsure of what to do, the ex-lawyer did the first thing that came to mind - pulling back, he waited for the vampire to meet his gaze before opening his arms in an unmistakable gestures.
When the vampire failed to react, Lindsey reached around the quivering figure, pulling him up into a tight embrace. Rocking back and forth, he simply held on to the ever so slowly relaxing brunette.

"Lindsey?"
His eyes shot open when a low, very familiar voice cut through his dreams.
Angel!
For a long second, a white-hot all-consuming electric current rushed through his body. He was here! Angel was here...
"Angel...," Lindsey managed to croak.
He wanted to say so many things but the slightest shake of the vampire's dark head made him snap his mouth shut.
The message was clear - not now.
But it hurt - it hurt so much.
Not waiting for Lindsey to react, Angel quickly turned towards the sleeping vampire wrapped around the ex-lawyer's shirtless chest.
"William!" Angel called as he carefully reached for the snoozing brunette; appearing to effortlessly lifted him up. "Let's get some blood into this bag of bones."
With an affectionate smile on his lips Angel sat down next to Lindsey on the floor.
Lindsey jumped, slightly startled as Angel, without warning, leaned into his personal space tussling his soft, sleep-mussed hair.
"It's good to see you, Lin," Angel told him seriously. "So very good..."
