Toriyama's new manga a parody!! - April 24, 2001 @ 9:19AM
EDT |
That's
right, according Toriyama World
the new Toriyama manga that will premier in the June issue of
WEEKLY JUMP will be a Dragonball parody called NEKOMAJIN GA IR.
In 1998 and 1999, Toriyama released 2 different versions of
the one time manga. Only now for the third installment of the
series, Toriyama is set to make fun of his most popular work
Dragonball. As such THIS IS NOT A NEW DRAGONBALL SERIES, and
will be only a one shot manga meaning it will only be produced
once. Here are the details as described on Toriyama
World:
"The story is basically about a magical, fat,
cat genie (very very reminiscent of Majin Buu from Dragon
Ball). The first chapter came out sometime in 1998 if I
remember right. This third chapter apparently is going to
parody Dragon Ball, as Neko Majin is shown dressed in Son
Gokuu's Gi, saying one of Gokuu's famous lines."
Very
interesting indeed; although its nothing to get excited about.
Word has it from Takeshi that the past two chapters does not
compare to Dragonball at all, in terms of quality and
action.

Hey, I'm still alive!!! - April 19, 2001 @ 9:49AM
EDT |
Sorry for
the long layoff. I traveled out of town for the Easter
weekend, and have not been able to post any news. Funimation
announced yesterday that 6 new DVDs will be out by the end of
July. Here is a list of what's coming soon:
June -
Frieza – Transformation - Garlic Jr. – Black Water
Mist - World Tournament – Junior Division. July -
Garlic Jr. – Sacred Water - Z Warriors Prepare - Frieza
– Revealed
Wahoo! I love them DVDs, I just finished
watching the Android - Assassins DVD and as usual its great!
Expect a preview of it real soon. Funimation also announced
that the premier of the original Dragonball series has been
pushed back to June 25, 2001. It is scheduled to air on
Cartoon Network at 5:30 pm eastern time.
On site
updates, the theoretical power level guide will be the next
feature on our site, and it is looking pretty good. This guide
will be better to use for gauging power and skill rather than
looking at guessed Power Level numbers. I am considering
adding the Saiya-jin and Freeza saga PL charts as well, to
give the guide full impact. Sit tight folks its coming
soon!

This month's update delayed :-( - April 2, 2001 @ 4:25PM
EDT |
I must
admit, the update was suppose to be posted late last night.
But upon the hour of 12am eastern time, there were still lots
of nick nacks that needed to be done. I will have to postpone
it till they are finished. Sit tight folks, an update is
coming soon! I hope to wrap-up the Theoretical PL guide very
soon, which is almost
done.

New Toriyama manga to be released - March 30, 2001 @ 10:13AM
EST |
The big PN
reported yesterday from the latest Shonen Jump (the April
issue of Monthly Jump manga printed in Japan) a promo
advertising Toriyama's new manga set to premier in the June
issue. The details from the promo were sketchy at best, and it
is unknown what the series will be... We will keep you posted
as new information becomes available.
On a side note,
the anime movie Akira is set to re-premiere in theaters today
in the New York Area. Now Akira is no Dragonball, but it is
one of the corner stones of Anime. If you have a chance and
your in the NY area, go and check it
out!

FTP archive back up - March 24, 2001 @ 10:06AM
EST |
The FTP
movie archive is back up and running. Sorry for the
inconvenience.
Also, I would like to note that if you
cant connect to any of the movie clips, it is BECAUSE THE FTP
LIMIT HAS BEEN REACHED! Only 100 users may download at one
time. If there are 100 users downloading at the same time, the
download will not connect. Please quit emailing me about this
problem, the limit has been placed there to curve bandwidth
costs. The best thing you can do is download at another time.
Thank you.

Simultaneous DVD and video releases - March 20, 2001 @ 10:02PM
EST |
Good news
came from Anime Nation:
Funimation is planning to release simultaneous DVD and video
releases in May starting with the "World Tournament" episodes
in the Buu saga. Yeah baby ^_^! They also went on to say that
new original Dragonball esp. 14-19 will be released on VHS in
June, and Dragonball Z movie 4 will be released in August
while movie 5 will be released in October! On a side note, I
just got the one of the latest issue of VIZ's Dragonball manga
with the age 13 and up label on them, and sure
enough the issue was uncensored (take a look at this image as Lunch uses the
middle finger)! It going to be a good year for
Dragonball fans..

Lets go grab them! The Dragonballs! - March 10, 2001 @ 8:48AM
EST |
Funimation
made the announcement yesterday on the main site that 26-28
episodes of the original Dragonball will air on Cartoon
Network later this year (sometime this May), and that this
version of Dragonball is NOT the old one that aired in 1995.
It will be "an all-new version, truer to the original story
line. The new episodes feature the early adventures of Goku,
as he encounters the Dragon Ball cast for the first time.
Never before seen, these episodes are already in production."
Exciting news for Dragonball fans indeed!
Also VIZ
announce late last week that there will be uncensored
Dragonball translated manga available later this year. All
uncensored manga will have the "age 13 and over" label on
them. VIZ will stop production of the first 3 censored graphic
novels and plans to re-release them in its uncensored format.
Its great to hear that the original Dragonball will make its
U.S. debut!
What about Dragonball GT?? Well there are
rumors that we will see DBGT the year after season 5 is
complete (that's next year folks). Funimation certainly on a
roll, I'll keep you posted as more info becomes
available.

Updates galore!! - March 2, 2001 @ 3:17AM
EST |
Here is a
large size unrivaled update. I posted a review of Funimation's
latest DVD Dragonball - Mystical Adventure. If
you love the original Dragonball or wanted a taste of it, this
is the disk to get! Check out the multimedia preview I added
for this DVD. I also added 15 brand new movie clips. What I try
to do is provide stuff you have NOT seen before (why bother
posting stuff you can get at your local Suncoast video). If
you take a gander at what I added you will notice all of the
clips have material not aired in the U.S. Go and check em
out!

Movie archive back up! - February 22, 2001 @ 10:48PM
EST |
As some of
you may already know, our movie archive is back up and
running. But I have not uploaded any new files yet (that will
happen next week). The Real Media files are now compressed in
WinZip format and are downloadable from the server via FTP. To
keep things running smoothly, there are certain limits that
have been implemented on the FTP server. READ ALL
INSTRUCTIONS, I have updated it to answer all possible
questions. Enjoy!

Update status - February 16, 2001 @ 3:06PM
EST |
Just to
shed some light on a number of things I have been working on:
I have 2 new sections that are in development. The progress of
these sections is coming along smoothly and should be
completed soon. I am also hard at work finishing the
theoretical power level guide. It will be off the hook when it
is finished! The new server has been configured and is ready
to use, only I have yet to re-link the multimedia (this may
take some time…). Finally I am going to get back to working on
some sections that need updating (LTE, Power levels, etc).
Phew, that’s a mindful! I’ll keep you guys posted with any new
progress.

the products are getting better with each release! HERE is an image
of the Goku mini busts that Palisades will release later this
year (!HOT!). For complete coverage head over to dragonballtoys.com.
