PDBC Men's Team Jumps From Bridge After Devastating Defeat

After consecutive devastating second place finishes to "seniors" teams in the TIDBF and NACCC, the frustrated PDBC Men's team decided to jump off the Welland Bridge. The distraught crew members were the first losers behind the Huron Kayak and Modern Canoe at the Toronto Internation Dragon Boat Festival and then suffered the ignominy of coming second again at the North American Club Crew Championships, behind the long-toothed Great White North's National Men Masters crew.

Photographer Terry Spearing captured the sad moments, as one by one his teammates jumped off the now infamous Welland Bridge. "What about me?" he sobbed in a tearful interview, "I could have been on the National Men Master's team myself."

Divers are still searching for missing bodies. While few bodies have been recovered as yet, one police rescue specialist did find an attractive GPS unit. No claimants have come forward.

Upon news that the PDBC Men's team could still qualify for the World Club Crew Championships by default, some previously lifeless bodies have been revived. Some of the crew, however, remain disheartened and say they may switch to synchronized diving before losing to the 'old boys' again.
