Welcome to the Wired, the world within the network of computers, a world where the line between fantasy and reality blurs. The story begins when Iwakura Lain recieves an email from a girl who had committed suicide the day before. The girl says that she is still present in the world of the Wired, that she has not died but merely abandoned her physical body. This causes Lain to become increasingly involved in the Wired, drastically changing her life. Produced by Pioneer LDC and directed by Ryutaro Nakamura, Serial Experiments Lain is the ultimate in scifi anime. Its stunnning visuals and intriguing plot make it one of the best anime series ever.
