| February 2000 Law Firm Donates ComputersTo Chinese Community AssociationLeading North East law firm Ward Hadaway is helping the Chinese community in the North East gain regular access to much needed computer equipment through a donation of personal computers. The North East Chinese Association originally contacted Entrust for a grant towards the cost of purchasing computers for their community centre on Stowell Street in Newcastle. However, with Ward Hadaway’s involvement, the Association has now been given 15 personal computers free of charge. The Association is a focal point for the Chinese community in the North East. It’s members have access to a range of courses from learning English to computer skills and through the Association they get involved in various community-based activities including fundraising events. Tony Yau, from Entrust, said: "These computers are available through the Association for anyone in the community who wants them from schools to individuals. People can use them in the centre or opt to take them home, whatever is more convenient for them. A number of the computers have been earmarked specifically for the Chinese women's training group. "Most of the events run by the Association are charity funded so to receive this very kind donation from Ward Hadaway is a fantastic bonus." Jamie Martin, managing partner, Ward Hadaway said: "As a leading law firm, we have to continually invest in cutting edge technology and software. As such, we found recently that we had a surplus stock of personal computers, and decided that we would donate these to community groups and schools. "Through Entrust, we are delighted that these machines now have a new home and we hope they will be a valuable asset to the Chinese Association." Contact Information
