PROPER TECHNIQUE OF BRUSHING

FONES TECHNIQUE OF BRUSHING:

In this technique once the tooth are brought into occlusion (after clinching your teeth ) the brush has to be rotated in large circular motion to clean the outer surface of the tooth , the inner and chewing surface of the tooth are cleaned with in and out horizontal strokes.

If the above steps are confusing or difficult then you may try this-

Hold the brush at 45degree to the tooth touching the gums and jiggle gently or move in tiny circles. Use vertical strokes from top to down for upper teeth and from down to up in case of lower teeth. Brush the inner surface of all teeth using jiggling action and use back and forth motion for the chewing surface

N.B :
1. You can use plaque disclosing agent to know the efficiency of your
brushing technique (the plaque that is not cleaned during brushing will
get stained on use of disclosing agent).

2. Change the brush every 3 months or as soon as the bristles flare out.

3. Brushing of teeth immidiatly after eating can reduce the
tooth decay by 50%.

MOST SUITABLE BRUSH FOR CHILDREN:

1 inch long, 0.36 inch high , 11 triple row with center row of 0.12 inch bristle diameter and each outer row of 0.8 inch bristle diameter .

N.B: PROPER BRUSHING SHOULD BE SUPPLIMENTED WITH PROPER FLOSSING TECHNIQUE
