Marin had always been a believer. Always taking walks along the shore, she'd constantly dream about life over the horizon. Her father, Tarin, had always told her nothing exsisted beyond the sea, but soon after Link's mysterious appearence, she knew that this man had come to give some sort of message. After finding his lifeless body onshore, she brought him to her home for further treatment. By the time Link had finally awoke, he mistook Marin for the Princess Zelda of Hyrule. She tells him that he's still woozy but directs him south where she had found him. Giving one last word of caution of monsteres on the beach, Link set off in search of more answers.

By the time Link had returned, Marin was in the town square and sung him her song. Little by little she opened up to him and the two begin to develop a close friendship. As time passed, Link had returned to ask of a favor. Apparently a lazy Walrus in Animal Village was demanding to hear her song! Only then he would give Link passage to his next destination. No where to be found, Marin had left a note in her home stating that she had gone to the beach. Quiet and calm, she kindly greets Link and offers him a seat next to her. One of the most memorable moments for all Zelda Fans, questions about the island itself and it's beginning started to rise. She continued to tell him how her heart had skipped a beat when she first layed eyes on him. That is when he appeared on shore that fatefull day. It was like all her questions would finally be answered. Soon after accidentally telling Link how she wants to know everything about him and realizing she said too much, the two take off to Animal Village.

Link and Marin's walk was memorable (Check the Album of Link's adventure for more about it- it deserved its special section). After awakening the Walrus, her animal friends take her into their village so she can fill it with song. Everyone loved her "Ballad of the Wind Fish", but soon Link had found out something dreadful. With that Ballad, it was a great importance to help him off the island. But the price, and as Marin opened up to Link with her secrets, he soon learned that somethings (as well of what Marin was saying) might not be exactly "real".
