02/07/01 - I don't get sick. Of course I never make a statement like that without knocking on wood.  So, last night I worked the graveyard shift and had the TV on. There was a replay of the news and a story about the seven secrets to not getting sick. Well, my ears perked at that. I had thought it was all luck; maybe attitude had something to do with it. The reporter listed the secrets: * Close Family Ties - I'm laughing. Yes, that's true. I have four sons and they all live with me, that would be the tie part. And yes, when five people live in a very small three bedroom house, that would be the close part. Next, * Happy - generally, yes. * Sense of Humor - Oh, very much a yes. I try to keep a sense of humor, but mostly I just love to laugh, I crave it. * Exercise - OK, there you go. I'm allergic to exercise. Well, I like to walk. But, I don't have a program. * Eat Healthy Foods - I don't shy away from fruits and veggies; I like them. I don't eat much junk food, hardly ever drink sodas. I ration my chocolate intake and yogurt rates high with me as a dessert. * Be Social - Oh my, I'm pretty sure I fail there. I work nights and three out of five nights I work alone. But, the reporter clarified that it's not a matter of being a social butterfly; It's the amount of enjoyment you get from being social. I must say I really relish the small social life I have. I think a dinner or lunch out is so special. Time shared with people I care about is never taken for granted; it's a treat for me. I have just a tiny social life, I count each instance as a blessing. Now listen up. It's the last secret that just about knocked me off my chair. * Journal Writing - Yes, you heard me, who knew? I'm laughing at myself as just today I started yet another notebook, this one is rose colored paper, legal size. I have so many journals going ... Yes, it makes me laugh. OMG, I'll be healthy forever at this rate.
