Liz stepped off the plane and scanned the crowd of people for a familiar face. "Liz over here!" Liz heard Maria's voice above the noise of the excited crowd waiting to welcome loved ones. She ran to Maria and was enveloped in a bear hug. "Hey girl, I have missed you so much!" Maria said with tears in her eyes. "I've missed you to Teflon Babe. Lets get my stuff then we can catch up on the way home." They slowly made their way to baggage claim to pick up Liz's luggage.

After an hour of arguing with an old lady who was convinced that Liz had her luggage the two girls finally made it to the car. They collapsed into the car after loading Liz's luggage and proceeded to maneuver their way out of the crowded Albuquerque Airport parking lot. 20 minutes later they pulled onto the highway. "So are you really ok?" Maria asked Liz with a worried look on her face. Liz laid her head on her hand and replied in a tired voice "Yeah. I miss them a lot but I'll be fine. Aunt Sandy promised that when everyone knew she would bring them here to live with me." Maria nodded then asked "How are you gonna tell Max?" That was all it took to break through the wall Liz had built around herself. She started crying causing Maria to pull over to the side of the road. "Oh Maria!" Liz sobbed "He will never forgive me for letting this happen, for not telling him so he could be there. I wanted to tell him so badly but I was so afraid he would leave me that I couldn't. They are so small and fragile and I miss them so much! What kind of a mother lets this happen!" Maria pulled back from Liz and said "Liz you did what any seventeen year old would do in your situation, in fact you have dealt with this better than anyone I know would have. You did what had to be done. You did the hard thing. You put your babies' needs ahead of your own. You are one of the best mothers in the world!!!" Liz wiped her eyes and managed a weak smile. "I wrote him a letter explaining everything. Can I read it to you to see if its ok?" Liz asked pleadingly Maria grinned at her and said "Go ahead." Liz reached into her pocket and pulled out a wrinkled envelope that had been reopened many times Maria smiled as Liz opened it and began to read:

Dear Max,

I know that we decided to be just friends but there is something you need to know. When we were a couple, something happened that changed my life, our lives forever. It started last year three weeks after we broke up. I went to stay with my Aunt Sandy to get away from you and the past but it followed me there. My second week there I was throwing up everything for no reason, so my Aunt took me to the doctor thinking I might have caught a seasonal bug. The doctors ran a series of tests and the results came in. Max if your not sitting down please sit. I was one month pregnant. I know that this is really hard for you considering we never knew if it were even possible. Any ways I decided to stay with my Aunt during the pregnancy. Ok so I went to the doctors office one day for a check up, they told me that I was having twins. I was so happy but then I thought about you, in Roswell not knowing that within the next year you were gonna be a father at the age of seventeen. I didn't know how to tell you. Anyway Ethan Maxwell Evans and Iris Zorya Evans were born on July 15, 2000. They have your eyes and Maxi has your ears. They both have healing hands and they often leave hand prints on me. I wanted you to be here so badly but I couldn't find the courage to tell you so now five months later I am telling you. Im sorry for keeping this from you. I'll understand if you need some time to think about it and if it takes you some time to forgive me for lying I'll understand also. I love you with all my heart, soul, and mind.

XOXOXOXO Liz

Liz put the letter back in her pocket and looked up at Maria. She could see the tears in Maria's eyes as they pulled into the parking lot behind the Crashdown. Maria reached over and hugged Liz. "Its gonna be alright. No matter what happens with Max, you will always have me." Liz pulled back and straightened her sweater before getting her stuff out of the car. She opened the door and threw her stuff by the couch. Then she walked into the Crashdown.

"SURPRISE!" Liz practically fainted but recovered quickly. She glanced around at all the people who had come to welcome her home. "When how did you plan this?" Liz asked in bewilderment. Her parents came up behind her and said "Hey honey, try to hang in there this was Isabelle and Alex's idea. We couldn't think of a way to say no so here we are." Liz smiled nervously at all the guests before retreating upstairs to unpack. She opened her suitcase and pulled out a handful of polaroids from the last five months. She picked up a picture of herself holding Ethan and Iris right after they were born, they were so tiny and adorable. Thinking about how they had cried when she had left them made her feel like her heart was being ripped out. A knock on her door interrupted her thoughts. "Liz you ok?" Max asked sticking his head inside her room. She shoved the pictures behind her back. "Yeah I'm just a little tired I'll be down in a minute ok." "ok" he replied looking more than a little concerned look. She turned back around and slammed the polaroids down on her suitcase. These people were driving her insane with there concern. She appreciated it but they didn't know how she felt and they couldn't understand her pain, how much it hurt to leave your babies behind even for a little while. She shook her head and went downstairs. Max looked up as she walked in. Maria who had been having a conversation with him and Michael, noticed and looked to see what had distracted him. She watched Liz greet her guests as politely as she could and felt her heart wrench at the pained expression on Liz's face as she had shown a little girl where the bathroom was. Maria got up and walked over to Liz. "hey hun you ok??" Maria asked "Yeah I'm ok just a little worn out. Hey will you send Max upstairs for me??" Liz pleaded with her eyes and Maria patted her on the back and told her he would be upstairs within minutes. Liz went upstairs and sat down on her bed to collect her thoughts.

A few short minutes later there was a knock on her door. "Come In ." Liz called. Max opened the door slowly and came in and sat at her desk. He noticed the nervous expression on her face and reached over to pat her hand. Liz pulled away before a connection could be made, not wanting him to find out through her memories. Max looked startled and more than a little confused. She pulled out the letter and sat down on the bed next to him. He smiled at her and then opened the letter. His grin faded down to a straight line as he finished the letter. Liz handed him the polaroids and left the room. She went into the bathroom to splash cold water on her face, and then returned to her room. She walked in hoping he was not to angry. "Max I know..." Her room was empty.

The wind blew the curtains softly and Liz prayed with all her heart that he was sitting on the roof. She peered out her window. Max was sitting on her lawn chair looking at the pictures. She stepped onto the roof and walked over to him. He smiled at her weakly and asked "When can I see them?" Liz looked startled but pleased and answered "We have to tell everyone before I'm gonna bring them here." "If you want me to tell Isabelle and Michael I can do that?" Max said gently. Liz sighed with relief " I'm so glad you aren't angry with me. I was so worried that you would hate me for not telling you." Max took her in his arms and said "Liz I could never hate you, this wasn't your fault, it wasn't anybodies fault. You did the best you could. I'm sorry you were afraid to tell me, I would have been there for you but the past is the past and there is nothing we can do about what happened. We just have to be there for each other and for Ethan and Iris." He thought about his babies and turned to Liz "What made you decide to call them Ethan Maxwell and Iris Zorya?" Liz smiled and shyly replied. " Ethan means strong, and Maxwell for obvious reasons, and Iris means rainbow and Zorya means star." Max smiled and looked through the polaroids. There was a photo of Liz sleeping with the twins lying in her arms, and one of her holding Ethan and her Aunt holding Iris and they were waving at the camera. He looked over at Liz who was crying softly. He pulled her into his arms as she sobbed into his shoulder. "I miss them so much. They were crying so hard at the airport, I felt like my heart was gonna burst. God Max I wish they were here. I need them so much." Max kissed her forehead and whispered in her ear "We will bring them here as soon as possible." Liz sat up and wiped her eyes, before grabbing Max's hand and heading back downstairs.

Maria and Michael looked up as they walked into the room. Max grabbed Michael and Isabel, and Liz grabbed Maria and Alex and dragged them into the back room. Isabelle looked from Liz to Max and said "Ok what is so important that you spent almost all night upstairs and you pulled us away from the fun to sit on ratty old couches???" Max gave her a look to shut her up before looking to Liz to began. " Ok this is really awkward, I don't know how to tell anybody this but it has to be said. After Max and I broke up I found out that I was pregnant with twins." She paused to let it sink in. Maria smiled encouragingly at her and Max squeezed her hand. " That's why I stayed in Idaho, and that's where they are right now. Ethan Maxwell Evans and Iris Zorya Evans. I left them there until everyone here knew so that we could all be prepared. I realize this is a shock since we had no idea if it was even physically possible but I assure you it is, there are two babies in Idaho that prove it. I'm sorry I kept it a secret for so long. Max didn't even know until an hour ago." Liz ended looking around the room Alex looked startled but supportive Isabelle seemed to have completely blocked out her words and Michael had his head in his hands.

"HOW COULD YOU LET THIS HAPPEN!!!! God Max you were the one always talking about how important it was for us to be alone, to not have any things holding us back so that if we found a way home we could go home with a clear conscience. Now no matter what none of us can go home, you wont leave Liz with two Alien children, Liz won't come with us, Iz wont leave you and I can't leave either one of you!!!!!" Michael collapsed next to Maria on the couch and she held him as his shoulders shook with angry sobs. Isabelle looked over at Michael and then at Alex. Alex saw the tears welling up in her eyes and moved over to sit next to her, to comfort her. Liz sat down heavily on the couch overcome with exhaustion. Max sat down next to her and she laid her head on his shoulder. Max silently pulled the Polaroids out of his pocket and handed them to Alex. Alex sat there silently looking at the two little babies that could had caused such an uproar, he handed the picture to Isabelle who had wiped her tears (and mascara) away. She stared at her niece and nephew. Twins. Just like her and Max. She smiled and handed the picture to Maria who was trying to console a very distraught Michael

"Michael none of this is gonna go away. Come on sweetie don't be so hard on them it could have easily been you and me. They need your support more than ever, you know how important you are to them. Besides what will Iris and Ethan do without there uncle???" Michael looked up as she said uncle and looked at the pictures of the two babies. He had to admit they were adorable they reminded him so much of Isabelle and Max that he couldn't stay angry. He looked at another picture of only Ethan and started cracking up. Liz sat up and looked at him strangely, Michael smiled at her as he laughed and when he was finally done everyone looked at him oddly. "Ethan has Max's ears!" Michael gasped out between breathes. Isabelle pulled the picture out of his hand and looked at it closely, then she started laughing. The picture went around the circle of friends until all of them were rolling on the floor laughing. Ten minutes later when they had all calmed down Liz stood up and said "Ok so now that you all know we have to figure out a way to tell Max's family, my family already knows. So we need to tell them as soon as possible because I can't leave Ethan and Iris with my aunt much longer. Eventually there gonna leave a silver handprint on something and that's gonna be hard to explain." The group nodded there heads and stood up to stretch. "We need to tell them right now." Michael said to the surprise of everyone. "The babies won't survive without Liz. I could feel it when I held the picture, they know that she is there mother and they will give up if she doesn't go back with them." Max looked terrified and stood up quickly and grabbed Liz's hand . "Liz we should go right now." Isabelle stood up and said "We can all come for support if you want us to. It might be easier if we were there. I don't know you guys decide." Liz looked at Max and he nodded his ok. So the 6 friends started for the Evan's house.

Max and Liz entered the Evans' living room holding each others hands tightly. Mr. and Mrs. Evans looked up from there seats on the couch, as the six friends entered the house. Mrs. Evans got up and walked over to Max, "Is everything ok honey? Mrs. Evans asked her son with concern. Max looked at Liz before turning to his mom. "No nothing is wrong, we just have some thing important to tell you. So if you guys could just sit and not say anything until were done we would appreciate it." Max's parents sat back down and looked at them with interest.

"Umm... I don't know how to put this. Ok you remember when Liz and I dated? Well right after we broke up Liz went to stay with her Aunt Sandy in Idaho. At first it had just been a three week vacation but something happened that caused her to stay for the rest of the school year and the entire summer. She stayed there because she was pregnant. Pregnant with our children, Ethan Maxwell and Iris Zorya Evans. She left them with her Aunt until everyone here knew about it. But they need her and me. We're bringing them here as soon as we can call her Aunt." Max stopped and smiled calmly at Liz and said "We can do this together, we aren't alone we have your parents and Maria and Michael, and Isabelle and Alex, and..." "You have us and our support" his father said interrupting him. Max smiled at his father and Liz embraced Mrs. Evans. "I'm sorry you felt as if you couldn't tell us right away, but I understand. You did what you thought had to be done. I'm proud of you both for taking responsibility for what happened." Mrs. Evans said lovingly. Liz hugged her again before going to the phone.

"Aunt Sandy? Hi its Liz are they ok? Good well everything is ok here so as soon as you can bring them please do. Yeah I miss you to. Ok so I'll see you on Sunday, ok thank you Aunt Sandy. Bye. Liz ran to Max and he pulled her into his arms. They held each other for a few minutes before looking around them at the group of people who had so willing shown there support. Michael and Maria had there arms around each other and Isabelle and Alex had sat down on the love seat, and Max's parents were smiling as they looked through the polaroids of there grandchildren. Liz turned to Max and said "I don't think I have ever been this happy, I feel as if I could burst. I have everything I need. I have my parents and your parents and Michael, Maria, Isabelle and Alex and I have Ethan and Iris." She snuggled up against him as he murmured in her ear. "You forgot someone." "No I don't think so let me think. Nope no one else." Liz said impishly. Max started tickling her. "Who else do you have, Liz?" Liz tried to pull away but that only made him tickle her more. After five minutes of this they were both exhausted from laughter and could do nothing more than snuggle on the couch. "You have me Liz. Forever and ever, and I will never leave you." "Like you could" she said pulling him in for a kiss.

~Two days Later~

Liz sat with Max outside gate Twelve, waiting for the plane to land. As the passengers began to file down the ramp, Max felt his body filling with a odd energy that he only felt when he was with Iz and Michael, or when something exciting or dangerous was happening. Liz tightened her grip on his arm when she spotted her aunt and the babies slowly moving down the ramp. Max took a deep breathe and stood up with Liz to welcome her aunt. Liz ran to her babies, who were squealing and gurgling with happiness. She knelt down in front of the strollers, and cried and laughed at the same time. Max stood back watching, not knowing exactly what was supposed to happen next.

He was a father, those babies were his babies, their babies. He and Liz were linked forever, through these tiny little beings. He slowly carefully moved over to Liz, and bent down to look at his babies. Ethan looked at Max and wrapped his little hand around Max's finger. Max felt a tingle as his son held his finger. Max looked at Liz and smiled. Liz smiled back and stood up. Her aunt was watching her with a smile, but her smile turned to a frown as she looked at her watch. She turned to her niece. "Liz honey, I can't stay I have to be back in Idaho by tomorrow morning. My plane leaves in an hour and I have to get checked in, so I need to be leaving." Liz frowned but shook her head in understanding. "Thank you for everything, we both really appreciate all that you've done for us and for Iris and Ethan. Please, come and visit us soon. I know the twins will miss you and so will we." Sandy smiled at her niece and hugged her good bye. "You come visit me. I'll miss you all." she turned to Max and smiled. "You take good care of her and them." Max nodded and replied in a serious voice "I will." Sandy smiled and looked at Max. She had seen the way he looked at her niece, he had fallen hard. He would put her and the twins ahead of himself and he would protect them or die trying. "I know you will, Max." she said before kneeling in front of Ethan and Iris. They gurgled and spit and she kissed them each on the cheek. She got up and gave Max and Liz each one last hug before walking away. She walked right past a man in a black suit with dark sun glasses on but thought nothing of it. Max grabbed the stroller and turned to take Liz's hand. She was gone.
