About Emerald

School, School. . . BLAH

I currently attend Emerald High School in Greenwood, South Carolina. I will be a senior of the 2001/2002 school year. When I first got to this school I hated it. It was no way like the schools I had attended before. And trust me I've been to a good many schools. Anyway I hated Emerald. I walked around and didn't talk to anyone. So freshman year pretty much sucked. Now Sophomore year was awesome. I knew everybody, I had all kinds of friends, It seemed as though everyone knew me. I dated Billy Garret, Jonathan Moore, and Kevin Norris, each at some point during the year. Yeah so they weren't the cream of the crop and they didn't have the greatest personalities, but they were fun at some point and I still talk to them every once and a while.  I met some cool people, and went on to do allot of fun things with them. My friend Noah Park is a photographer, though not very experienced, he and I went out and took pictures. That was fun, but it turns out I'm no model. My friend Martin McAbee took me bridge jumping and taught me how to ski. Perrin Hall and I started our very own fashion club, where we dressed in atrocious clothing to school where the most critical people preside. That was fun for the whole 3 days I participated. Brandi Boyer and I threw all kinds of parties, some of which she decided it would be fun to kill all ugly people. Ohh the laughs! Jonathan Moore took me to Charleston for the first time. Steven Livingston taught me how to go "Rednecking." Ok so these people didn't teach me to many useful things but at least I have awesome social skills. Recently I had a poem entered into our school arts magazine, wATERMARKS. This is the poem I wrote:

                                They

They all say it's not your fault,

That no one's life is fair.

But why should you believe them?

How do you know they care?

They say things get really bad

Before they start to get better.

At a certain point I have to ask

How many storms must there be,

Before I see calm weather?

Just when you think life is good,

Something goes completely wrong.

They say what doesn't kill you

Will only make you strong.

But how do they know all of this?

Who deemed them your advisor?

Could it be that they've lived through this

And that's what makes them wiser?
