This is the Davidson building.

It is often used as a symbol of the city of Ellensburg. It burned down in 1913 and was promptly rebuilt. It is now owned by Scott Repp and portions are rented out for use as everything from business offices to restaurants to retail shops to a pharmacy.

This is the notorious Ellensburg Castle. It was built in 1889 as the governors mansion but was never actually used by the Governor. The capital was moved to Olympia Washington as a result of a fire that burned much of the historic district of Ellensburg in 1889. The very same fire that burned The Davidson Building.

This is the sign that you will see at the entrance to Irene Rinehart Park on the Yakima River about a mile west of town on Uptanum Road. The park is a favorite cooling off spot for kids and adults alike, during the hot summer months.

This is what the Yakima River looks like as it passes though the park. River boarding and rafting are very popular activities on the Yakima as well as fishing and camping.

This is what the park itself looks like. The building you see is a covered picnic area and behind it is the lake which is unofficially referred to as Carrie Lake. It was actually a quarry at one time. The rock and earth was used to build roads and highways. the hole that was left was flooded and turned into a park. There are many lakes all along Interstate 90 with the same history.

Across the street from the building displayed above you can see this.

This is known by locals as the funny house. In fact it is a private residence where Dick and Jane Orleman live. The house and yard are constantly changing and new sculptures are added all the time. Their yard is filled with many oddities and is visited by many people simply passing through.

This is a very commonly seen symbol in Ellensburg. It goes back to the idea that Ellensburg is in the very center of the state.

This is Dick and Jane's mailbox and front door. Last year the sidewalk in front of their house had to be redone and Dick asked that a red dye be added to the concrete mix to make it more unique.
