JAMME-GON NAMGYAL
THEKCHEN LING MONASTERY

The Jamme Gon Namgyal Monastery was established in the year 1300 in Nangchen , Eastern Tibet by three tulkus namely, Lhathog Gyalsay , Karma Dugthog , and Karma Lhachog .They were personal disciples of Khampa Kharma Tenphel and had attained great accomplishment in learning and unrivalled realizations in their practice. The monastery was built on the land provided by their disciple the king of Nangchen at that time.

For 700 years, and throughout the successive incarnations of their venerable tulkus, the monastery became a center for accumulation of merits. They worked relentlessly to propagate the Buddhist teachings and continuously performed Buddhist activities in the region. All these came to a stop in 1960 due to the malicious acts of destruction during the Chinese Cultural Revolution. The monastery was totally and completely destroyed.

Following the era of destruction, hardship and sufferings, the opportunity to re-establish the monastery arrived in the eighties. Together, Ven. Choesin Rinpoche and Ven. Lhamchog Rinpoche, took and accepted the responsibility to re-built and upkeep the monastery, look after the livelihood of the yogins and sangha members. They are also responsible for the teaching and propagation of the Buddha Dharma.
