Company Land Rovers

As I mentioned earlier, my first proper job after graduating was for Pace Micro Technology, manufacturers of satellite and cable receivers. The directors had some very interesting machinery, the company car park was home to a couple of Ferrari’s and a Porsche to name but a few. The MD also had a Defender 110 County which also doubled as a pool car! Unfortunately it wasn’t the best maintained Defender. Once when I was out in it as I was swinging round a fastish roundabout, the power steering suddenly faded to nothing leaving me with 2 ton of Landy wanting to go straight on…good job I had room on the roundabout to run wide… scary moment. Pace also had a second Defender 110. The company had a promotional hot air balloon and this vehicle was done up in a company colours and logos and used as the balloon recovery vehicle. Out on business in this got everyone pointing at you, you couldn't blend in driving this beast! The worst thing about the 110 is the crap turning circle, out on business in the Balloon Team 110 I made a wrong turn into a dead end street, what seemed like hours and 77 point turn later I escaped and of course the garish paint job attracted a few on lookers to admire my maneuvering.
