The following was what I had intended to update last week, as I felt it was about time we said a little more about our appearance in the Doctor Who Monthly ..
Thanks to everyone who has emailed me recently after reading about us in the DWM! Naturally we were honoured to have been chosen as one of the eight to be reviewed in the recent feature on amateur productions. We were well expecting not to be scored, as Devious is not yet complete, and this seemed perfectly fair to us! However he way it was worded was almost as it we couldn't finish it, when in reality we have every intention of finishing it at last. As you may know from visiting this site before, we have had many delays over the past couple of years preventing us from doing anything at all.
However, things have moved on at last. The Tardis interior set has recently been refurbished and some alterations made to the walls, (they can now be backlit) and very nice they look too. The Tardis console motor has had a test and is operating again. I'm sure you'll see them in action very soon! More news when I get a moment.
The daleks have also had a quick service, and are fully operational - well three of them are. The three were used recently, with the fourth's top half married up with the third's base, and the fifth's top replacing the second one. Sounds a bit confusing? Well, it made for some interesting naming, as in common with the early BBC Dr Who I use the Marx Brothers Naming Convention - we had Groucho, Harpo and Zeppo-Chico in use. The fifth one I shall have to name "Karl"....(!)
It all bodes well for some filming soon. The new studio (/shed) now only needs a good smooth floor before the set can be built for the third tardis's interior. The exterior walls of the shed will be rendered as soon as possible, although this will not affect any interior work. Maybe I'll show some preliminary sketches for the set on these pages if you're really good! I'm also thinking about getting hold of a smoke machine so we can do some interesting lighting effects - does anyone out there know how much they are? - or whether anyone has an old one that is serviceable and can be bought?
As soon as I get a chance I will add some new photographs and footage screen-shots to the pages - now that the DWM and the world know about the Pertwee scene I'm sure we can include a few images without any problems. I was actually thinking on doing a whole feature on the Pertwee scene; including some behind the scenes shots and the script for that scene - it's just a question of time really.
Keep coming back to the Devious pages, since there's finally something happening! I expect to be updating the pages next week (after the 12th March 1999) - I am currently working on a Gary Numan project which will be completed by then!
