For this project you may choose any fiction novel from the READING COUNTS list. Get your book approved by your teacher before you begin. After you finish reading your book, follow the directions below to complete the required project. |
Directions: |
1. Fold a 12 inch square of white construction paper diagonally both ways. |
2. Open up the paper. |
3. The folds form an X. Take each point of the paper and fold it towards the center to make 4 flaps. |
4. On the outside of the flaps, write WHO, WHAT,WHEN/WHERE, and WHY. (One title on each flap) |
5. On the inside of the WHO flap, write a description of the main character(s). |
6. On the inside of the WHAT flap, write a summary of the story. |
7. On the inside of the WHEN/WHERE flap, describe the setting. Don't forget to include when the story took place. |
8. On the inside of the WHY flap, tell why you liked or disliked the book. |
9. On the large square inside the flaps, draw and color an illustration of a scene from the book. |
10. Turn the whole square over and write the title and author of the book, and of course, your own name. You may use stencils or fancy lettering and/or and illustration to dress up this side. |

I'll have a sample project available in the classroom as a model. If you need construction paper for this project, you may ask me for some. |
