Students are required to complete current events response sheets on a regular basis.  They must choose a printed news article which relates to some aspect of social studies - politics, economics, geography, history, culture, etc.  It does not have to be about a topic or country we are currently studying.  The article may not be about celebrities, sports, animals, hobbies, etc.  If your student isn't sure that the article is appropriate, please have your student check with me.  Articles should be at least 5 paragraphs long.  A great source for appropriate current event articles is the cover story of "Time for Kids"  which we have in the classroom.  Other sources for articles include the newspaper, news magazines, or the internet.  Parents are encouraged help their child read and understand the article they have chosen.  After reading the article, students must complete a CURRENT EVENTS RESPONSE sheet.
