Rebel Ships

X-Wing

The Standard Rebel X-Wings are based off of the designs for a Z-95 Headhunter. The difference is, that unlike the Z-95 Headhunter, the X-Wing has strike foils. Strike foils are the wings on the fighter. Each strike foil (now being called s-foil for short) has one laser cannon that is capable of ripping through enemy fighter craft. The s-foils have two positions, cruising position and attack position. When in cruising position, the X-Wing is much more maneuverable and faster than in it's attack position. A standard X-Wing carries a payload of 8 proton torpedoes, 4 in each launcher. It's Astromech droid that sits behind the cockpit, is capable of repairing the X-Wing to a certain extent in flight. The Astromech also serves the purpose of an early warning device of an enemy fighter, or of a missile lock. The X-Wing was replaced by the A-Wing.

Y-Wing

The Standard Rebel Y-Wing has a cockpit shaped like an A-Wing with twin thrusters attached by a rear shaft. It has dual proton torpedo launchers each carrying a payload of 4 torpedoes. This slow craft was the backbone of the rebellions snubfighters until the X-Wing was introduced. With the speed difficulty, they were made very tough, to take more hits than any fighter at that time. The Y-Wing was the first snubfighter to be equipped with a hyperdrive and with a pair of ion cannons. The Y-Wing was at both Death Star Battles, but in the second one, they were cut down by the Empires new TIE Advance.

A-Wing

The A-Wing is the fastest Starfighter in the rebellions army. When it was originally developed, it was meant to replace the X-Wing with it's superior speed and rotating guns. The original design of the A-Wing was the Jedi Starfighters of the Old Republic. The speed of the A-Wing is what makes it unique. It is as fast as a TIE Interceptor and has the added bonus of being a shielded craft. The A-Wing suffers the same gunnery problem as the X-Wing, The guns are placed too far apart, and as such, a TIE can be in your laser lock, but both lasers pass on either side.

B-Wing

The Rebellion's B-Wing class fighter has a combination of the Y-Wings ability to take hits and the X-Wings speed and maneuverability. The B-Wing has 2 laser cannons and 2 ion cannons. The B-Wing can carry a payload of 16 concussion missiles, or 8 proton torpedoes, or 2 heavy missiles. The shields are the same shields used in the TIE Advance, giving it the ability to take many hits before lasers even touch the hull.

Snowspeeder

The Snowspeeder is the only snubfighter designed for atmosphere. It's design let's the winds flow around the vehicle without too much of a disturbance. The Snowspeeder has 2 lasers that are centered at 250 meters. The Snowspeeder has the most precise ground terrain following navigation available to the rebellion. The Snowspeeder is a 2 man ship, one pilot, and one gunner. Snowspeeders are the ships that guarded Hoth base against the imperial attack, that later drove the rebellion to the outer rim.

Imperial Ships

TIE Fighter

The Imperial TIE Fighter is the most recognizable fighter in the Imperial Navy. It's Twin Ion Engines make the horrid screeching sound that reaches their enemies ears long before the fighters actually engage. A TIE Fighter is a single pilot craft with 2 lasers. The pilots must where E-Vac suits to survive in their fighters. The engines can reach the speed of 125 clicks (sub light speed).

TIE Bomber

The Imperial TIE Bomber is a 2 man craft carrying the pilot and the weapons man. The TIE Bomber is (as the name states) a bomber. TIE Bombers are slower than most starfighters, but is still faster than a Y-Wing. The Bomber is not very maneuverable, and is considered by some to be a suicide fighter.

TIE Interceptor

The TIE Interceptor is one of the most maneuverable and dangerous TIEs in the Imperial Navy.
The TIE Interceptor is capable of reaching speeds of 145 sub light speed. As with most TIEs, the Interceptor is an unshielded craft and is therefore very fragile. The only thing that keeps these ships from getting blown apart, is the skills of their pilots.

TIE Advance

The TIE Advance is as it's name states, an advanced version of the TIE Fighter. Equipped with 4 lasers and proton torpedoes, The Advance is a formidable opponent for even the most seasoned veterans. The TIE Advance is the first TIE to be equipped with shields. Darth Vader flew a TIE Advance at the first Death Star. The Advance has an extra capability of fast recharging shields, making it almost impossible to destroy the ship with an opponents lasers.

TIE Defender

The TIE Defender is a ship, specially designed to hunt and kill other snubfighters. The TIE Defender has 4 lasers and 2 ion cannons, as well as being equipped with a warhead launcher. TIE Defenders are the only TIEs (other than the TIE Advance) to be equipped with a hyperdrive. The TIE Defenders are equipped with the same fast charging shields as the TIE Advance.
