This is a page I quickly put together in college in 1998 in outrage at a rather chilly administrative response to some basketball victory celebrations at Duke.

Shaping the New Duke:

Administrators Take Measures to
Eliminate Ambiguity in Student-Relations Policies

THE UGLY SIDE OF DUKE

Fearing the students would attempt to continue the tradition of burning the dorm benches after the Duke-UNC Basketball game despite a recent ban on the celebratory fires, the University Administration organized an elaborate offense while the students were engrossed in the game.

The students, after viewing the first UNC-Duke basketball game in the Great Hall, walked out onto the quad on Main West Campus to be greeted by a small army of police in riot gear patrolling a quad brilliantly illuminated by a barrage of floodlights. The "flexi-cuff"-laden militia was ready to hog-tie anyone who might attempt to start a fire or who appeared to be a threat to "himself."

As it turned out, Duke did not win the game. When the students, already disappointed at the loss, came outside and saw how the Adminstration had suddenly drawn a hostile "battle line", the tone was set for the events to come.

Even more outrageous:
