I got somethin' to say about it.
Opinions are an important part of who we are and can reveal a lot about our personalities. At the same time, it isn't always productive or advisable to express them to all audiences. I haven't made much of an effort here to censor out things that some people might find offensive. I have 2 reasons for this: First, in some cases, I WANT to offend in order to make others think. Second, I think I'm allowed to be a little loud since I'm open to other views. Nothing here is carved into stone -- I might change any view overnight given new information or another view-point which I haven't yet considered. And now, for the feature presentation...
I'm one of the most opinionated people I know. This is where I vent.
I really like being around people who have strong views on lots of things - even if they're opposite to mine.
Speaking of strong opinions, Gloria Steinem has 'em. Her essay If Men Could Menstruate is a classic and is most worthy of a link here.

This page isn't the only place I express my opinion. I also do it at the ballot box. I VOTE. And I try to convince others to vote the same way I do. If you don't vote, you deserve to live in a dictatorship.
Here are the people who get mail from me when something I don't like is about to happen in Washington. (for example: The Grinch's nomination of Ashcroft for US Attorney General.)
I admit that it's a pain to take the time to write a letter, and that it often feels like a futile effort. So why do I do it? Because if I don't, I can't COMPLAIN when I don't like the outcome.

Here are some topics I may add some commentary on in the near future, depending on how bitchy I feel & how much time I have. If you have anything to add to any of these topics or share my opinion, send me mail!
- A little about the Grinch who stole the presidency.
- How smoking is absolutely, positively OUT OF CONTROL in Germany.
I kid you not when I say that it is a rare day indeed that I successfully make it 50 yards from my house door without having to walk through a cloud of cigarette smoke. In the subway, I just love it when the inconsiderate jerk ahead of me on the escalator mindlessly decides to light up.
- Why the death penalty is stupid.
- Why I am no fan of oil companies, why I conserve energy, and why I support Greenpeace
Here's a photo of the recent (2001) Galapagos spill. Has anyone out there already forgotten the outrage of the Exxon Valdez Spill in 1989? |

- Why Jesse Helms is simply neither nice nor very intelligent man.
- The US Drinking Age
Why don't the 18-21 year-olds get out there and campaign to lower the drinking age?! And why don't more American parents accept responsibility for teaching their children how to use alcohol responsibly rather than categorically forbidding it?
- The Theocracy of South Carolina - the Power of the Preacher at the Polls.
- America's Puritan Roots
- The Munich S-Bahn - incompetence at its best
- Retarded German "Ladenschlussgesetze"
- Why circumcision for aesthetic or religious reasons is barbaric.
- Does a welfare state prevent crime?
- US Gun Control -- "Guns don't kill people. People with guns kill people."
- German Church tax
- German TV tax
- An aspect of Duke that doesn't appear in the glossy brochures... and old page from 1998.
