So, speaking no Italian and knowing nothing
about the country, we spent two days in Venice.
It's a beautiful city, but we'll go back when we can
speak enough Italian so that we can get out of
Venice without wanting to beat up the ticket
guy in the train station.
Then,
we went to France and spent most of our vacation
there. We loved it and want to go back! Of course,
both of us speaking French really helped. We
started in Lyon. While there, we drove out to
the Beaujolais wine country for a day. Beautiful!
Then, we went to Paris for four days. Loved
it! Next, we went to the town ofVersailles and the Palace. Brain numbingly decadent. Our last city in France was Strasbourg, on the German border. It's more
German than French.
We
crossed the German border and went to Heidelberg
and visited Heidelberg Castle. Beautiful old-world
city. We stayed a few days in Trippstadt with
friends, whom we met while we lived in New Jersey.
We
flew out of Ramstein A.F.B. to Dover A.F.B., Delaware. We were exhausted and we still had a full day of
driving to get back to Charleston! We loved
Europe, but it was nice to be back home.
