Duties

Surveying the land necessitates much more than sightseeing and bird watching. It includes making precise measurements, drawings, and a close study of the environment, including local flora and fauna, and soil and water quality and availability.

Home

Where Drachmet lays his head at night varies since his chosen path in life is nomadic by nature. "Home is where the heart is," after all, and he would rather be nowhere else than where he is at any given time. But his family, whom he visits several months out of the year, lives mainly on the plains near the foot of the Belrin Mountains.

Physical Description

Hair

The cut of his hair tends to get shaggy with prolonged periods of travel, normally light brown when indoors (generally in the winter months), easily becomes sun-streaked with honey-red and platinum-blonde when outside.

Eyes

A soft grey color predominates his irises, though like granite beads are flecked with light blue and white. His eyes are almond shaped and large, almost pretty.

Physique

Slender in a wiry way, Drachmet's muscles have been strengthened by the elements. Though he has a fast metabolism, has built up a respectable endurance over the years, even adapting himself to the high altitudes of the Belrin Mountains.

Appearance

He tans easily in southern regions, but for now that pigmentation is a vague memory, skin now a creamy pink from lack of sun exposure. His face is more weathered, bearing the outline of goggles he once traded a dragoner for.

Dress

His clothing includes various layers of wool, fur-lined boots, gloves, and hood, a thick woolen cloak doubling as a blanket much like a kilt (though worn around his neck). He carries a backpack containing edibles and equipment, though he often hunts for meat with a collapsible crossbow, which, with the quiver, is carried in a case within the pack.

Personality

Additude

Drachmet loves adventure and the outdoors (no matter the weather), preferring his closeness to nature over the company of others. However, he enjoys trying new things such as food, games, and the like, and whenever he comes to town often visits the marketplace first. Because of his free spirit and a lack of social skills, he is known for butting heads with authority figures, basically anyone who would encroach upon his personal freedom. He has also gotten into his fair share of barroom brawls, taking as many blows as he dished out. Normally however, he is mild-mannered or simply quiet, which has caught the eye of several young ladies.

Hobbies

For the first time in his travels, Drachmet finds himself looking after someone other than himself, and enjoys it immensely. When they are not eating or sleeping, he usually spends his evenings working with his juvenile pair of Alis Gryphs who are highly trainable and eager to learn.

Father

A nomadic trader, where Drachmet gets his roaming spirit from.

Lives at her brother's residence, as his assistant.

Sister

A young wife living along the coast with her husband, no children yet.

Extended Family

An uncle through his mother is a wealthy businessman, and his wife. They, along with several of their adult children, live in the same area.

He rescued nestling pair of Alis Gryphs (thankfully, he thinks, old enough to eat meat right off the carcass) last Thaw. Whisper, a bluish-grey male, and Malachi, a greenish-grey female, were safe in their nest when their mother was killed by a local predator. Drachmet found her remains near the nest, and he knew that it was a matter of time before that predator decided to go looking for an easy snack…

Whisper and Malachi both are snowy owl-snow leopard type Alis Gryphs. Whisper was named for his silent step and equally soft flap of wings, as well as his soft twittering voice. His head, wings, back, and tail are that of an owl, while body and legs are that of the leopard. Malachi's head, wings, and forelegs are that of the owl, back legs, body and tail that of a leopard. She is more aggressive in all ways than her brother, who prefers to watch and consider before dancing headlong into a situation.
