Harmon Springs Police Headquarters Adam Carrington paced the floor of the blandly decorated offices inside the Harmon Springs Police department, as his brother-in-law Jeff Colby and Police Chief Monroe tried to track down his allusive aunt Caress Morel. Adam was sure that Caress was responsible for Dana's kidnapping, and if anyone knew where Mrs. Litton had taken her, it would be his sly aunt. "What the hell is taking them so long?" Adam yelled. Amanda stood up and put her arms around her older brother. "Sh, it's going to be all right, Jeff is doing everything he can." "I know, I'm sorry, I just can't believe I have to rely on him. I never thought I'd live to see the day that I would need Jeff Colby's help on anything." Adam smiled, and Amanda hugged her brother tighter. "You see? Things like this bring people closer." Amanda said, while she glanced over at Jeff and thought how handsome that he looked right at this moment; Fallon was a lucky woman. Adam smiled, but for different reasons; he liked having his sister look out for him, but he detested that fact that Jeff Colby, one of his biggest rivals had to be the one to help him now in his hour of need. "Any luck yet Jeff?" Adam called, and the shake of Jeff's head was the answer. They were having trouble locating Caress, so Adam was sure that she was behind this, if he could only find proof. A Shady Motel somewhere in Denver Just seconds after the two bullets left the gun that Mrs. Litton was holding Dana Warring passed out, Mrs. Litton smiled her bluff worked, and Dana wouldn't be thinking about escape ever again. The bullets crashed into the tile next to the window, Mrs. Litton hoped that the noise didn't bring around any nosy persons, but if they did. She was capable of disposing of any nuisance that made their way into the equation. Mrs. Litton picked up Dana's lifeless body, and took her back into the outer room, and tied her back into the chair that she had occupied since the day after the ball. "Now there, safe and sound backs into your gilded cadge Mrs. Warring." Dana regained consciousness, and began to struggle with the ropes, but the tip of Mrs. Litton's gun positioned next to her head, was all the warning Dana needed to corporate. "Now that's a good girl, I wouldn't want anything to happen to you my dear girl." Mrs. Litton paused, "That is until Adam Carrington show's up." And the laugh that escaped her lips only proved what Dana had thought, that this woman was mad, and that Dana wasn't going to leave this room alive. Later- at the Harmon Springs Police Headquarters Jeff slowly walked to where Adam and Dana were sitting and by the look on his face Adam knew that the news he would relay wasn't very promising. "I'm sorry Adam, we've checked everywhere, and there is no sign of Caress anywhere. She is not at Colby Co or in her penthouse" "Then that proves that she's behind this." Adam declared. "It doesn't really prove anything, she's the head of Colby Co now, and she could be off in any number of situations." Jeff said, but he didn't really believe this, he suspected as Adam did, that Caress was probably responsible for the whole mess concerning the consortium. "I think the best thing we can do right now is let the authorities handle this." "Oh yes, they've done a bang up job so far!" Adam exclaimed. "If they are doing such a good job, then why haven't they found Dana?" "Adam please, everyone is doing the best that they can." Amanda proclaimed. "Now why don't we go home for a little while, the chief will call us if anything turns up, but you will be no use to Dana if you don't take care of yourself." Adam couldn't argue with his sisters reasoning, and he reluctantly rose, and let Jeff and Amanda lead him to the door. Police Chief Monroe called to them, as they were about to leave. "Mr. Carrington, I promise you that we will find Mrs. Warring." He stated. Adam smugly turned around. "You had better find her, or if you fail, I promise you that your next job will be pushing security at Wal-Mart." And with that Adam, Amanda, and Jeff left.
The Carrington Mansion
Krystle was about to go up her room when the main door opened and Krystina stormed in with tears in her eyes, Blake after her. "Krystina, wait a minute, Krystina!" the old man called his daughter. "I don't want to talk to you, leave me alone!" Krystina ran but Krystle stopped her. "Honey please tell me what's happened?" "I found her in this bastard's bed, that's what happened!" Blake almost yelled and Krystle looked at her daughter, stunned. "What?" "Nothing happened, but daddy doesn't believe me, but nothing happened!" Krystina defended herself. "Don't tell me that" he said and turned to his wife, "You should have seen her, and god knows what he would have done to her if I had not shown up!" "Kyle loves me, and I love him, why can't you understand that?" "Because he is using you, can't you see that? He is a criminal, and no daughter of mine will hang around with a creep like that!" "Kyle is a good man, you don't know him!" "Krystina, please calm down" "No, not until you understand and say that you are sorry, and that I can see Kyle. He hit him, he hit Kyle!" Krystina said to Krystle.
"Blake…" "He was lucky I didn't kill him!" "Oh, like you killed Ted Dinard!!!" Krystina almost lost her temper, turned around and went upstairs. "Krystina, come back here, Krystina!" Blake yelled. "Blake, calm down… you still weak" "I swear to god, Krystle, I could kill him" "You are not going to kill anyone, you silly man. Can't you see you are doing the opposite? She loves him!" "She doesn't even know him!" Blake said in anger. "Stop protecting her, Krystle. You know how dangerous those people can be. God knows what his plans are?" "The police already arrested him, Blake. He won't do anything foolish" "Now you are protecting him!" "I'm not protecting anyone; I just don't want to see you sabotage your relationship with your daughter" "He is the one that's doing that!" "Have you totally forgotten what troubles you had with Fallon when she dated with Michael Culhane? Don't repeat this mistake, Blake!" "You right, I should have gotten rid of that creep at the moment he put his hands on Fallon - and this is exactly what I'll do with Roberts!" he said angrily and left upset, leaving Krystle worried even more. Later that evening, Outside Jim's apartment building LB parked his sport car on the side road and looked at Ashley who tried to open the door that was looked. "Can you open the door please?" "First I want us to talk" he asked. They didn't say a word to each other since they left Delta Rho after Danny left with his parents. "We already said everything, LB. Please let me out" "You are making a mistake leaving for Princeton. You'll suffer there, you'll be miserable there" "No, LB. I will be happy, happy with my boyfriend - your cousin!" "Why are you doing this? Why can't you see the truth?" "What truth exactly are you talking about, your truth?" "Our truth our feelings, that's what I mean! You are trying to ignore this by leaving Denver, but you won't success, Ashley. You know why? Because it will hunt you wherever you journey in life, whether it's, in Israel, in New York, in Princeton, everywhere" he stated.
"Let me out, LB!" "It's not too late, Ash. You can say you decided to stay in Denver and study here. Danny is not here anymore; it will be perfect, just you and me, together…" "Let me out, LB! Now!" she almost yelled. He releases the lock and took her by the hand. "You have twenty four hours to think about that. You know where to find me" he was about to kiss her hand, but she rejected him, opened the door and stormed out. "Don't bother to pick me up tomorrow, Jim will take me to the airport" she slammed the door and stepped toward the building entrance. LB watches her until she entered the building and disappeared. I won't give you up, Ashley. This is my chance… and I'm going to take it. He started the engine and drove away. The Carrington Mansion, Blake's study
Amanda glanced up form the game of Candy land she was playing with Jeff, Lauren, Cathy and Joseph to watch her older brother pace the floor again. Adam's mood hadn't improved since their return home, and even Joseph couldn't cheer up his father. "Amanda?" Jeff called softly, "Amanda." He said again, before reaching for her hand and giving is a squeeze.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I must have been day dreaming again." Amanda said as she took a spin of the dial. Cathy laughed, as Amanda had to bump Jeff form his markers spot on the board. "I'm sorry Jeff." Jeff laughed as he took Amanda's hand again, and giving a gentle squeeze once more, not unnoticed by his daughter Lauren, who took her turn next. "I bet mother wouldn't find that very funny." Jeff turned to her and asked. "What was that darling?" "Nothing, I just said how much fun I was having." Lauren said as she rolled her eyes. "My turn, my turn" Cathy yelled, as Jeff and Amanda laughed, as her marker made it to home, it was the sixth game she had won, and they stopped letting her win after the first two games. "Its no fair, she always wins." Joseph said, as he got up and walked over to his father. "Daddy what's wrong?" "It's nothing for you to worry about." "But I do worry Daddy. I worry about you." Adam smiled; his son definitely gained his compassion form his mother. Kirby felt for every living being on earth, even those that didn't deserve it. "I'm just worried about a friend of mine. She's in a lot of danger right now, and I pray that she makes it out safe and sound." "Well if she's a friend of yours maybe mommy will look out for her form heaven." Joseph said and Adam hugged his son tight, and his attention went to the fax machine on Blake's desk, it was coming alive, as a fax was being transmitted.
"Come on Joseph; care to try your hand at Monopoly?" Amanda called. "Yes sure." He said, and then turned to his father. "Come on dad play with us." "Okay sure. I'll be there in a minute." Adam said as he walked over to the desk, and read the fax, and if either Jeff or Amanda had looked up they would have seen the shock on his face and instantly new what was wrong. Adam composed himself, and folded the fax placing it into his pocked and joined the others. "Anything wrong" Amanda asked. "It was just that fax form Hong Kong that I was expecting." Adam said, as they began to play. He thought to himself. "I'm sorry Amanda, but this is one problem even you can't help with." Alexis Colby's Penthouse
Alexis entered her penthouse apartment and spotted Zachary Powers, who had been waiting for her. A smile spread across her face as she walked over to him. Zach examined her. "Somebody is obviously in a good mood." He noticed. Her smile grew even broader. She reached him and placed a light and tender kiss on his lips. "How was your day?" He asked. "Successful," she answered briefly. "So?" Zach asked, pretending to be clueless. "Yes, I got control over another five percent of my company." She explained, playing along. "I'm glad to hear that." He assured her, putting his arms around her. "Happy?" He asked, looking into her eyes. "Yes." She said, without hesitation. "Thanks, Zach." She slid her arms around his neck and passionately kissed him. "I thought about a compensation for you." Alexis suddenly started, slipping out of his arms. She was eager to turn the signing over of the shares into an ordinary business deal. "I'll give you the Blue Water land. I think that's a fair trade for your ColbyCo stocks." "No, Alexis." He said, turning her offer down. "What, you don't want any compensation?" She asked, faking surprise. Alexis knew exactly what he was up to. "It's not the land that I want." He said bluntly. "I have come to realize that ColbyCo means more to you than anything else, and you mean more to me than anything else. Last night was incredible. You made me the happiest man in Denver. I still want nothing more than to marry you." Zach was fascinated by her. She was beautiful, bright, temperamental, sensual, and passionate, yet at the same time proud, impulsive, and stubborn, but all this was part of her charm. Alexis sighed. She had been afraid he would stress that issue again. She wasn't sure how she felt about Zach at the moment, but whatever she felt it was not love. She knew all they had ever shared was nothing more than an affair, and she needed more than that in her life. Sleeping with him was one thing, marrying him another. "You're a powerful man. You're an incredible lover. But most important you're a good friend. I know I can always count on you." She said carefully, not wanting to upset him. "So, what more do you want?" "You don't love me, Zach." She said looking up at him. "I never say things I don't mean, I do love you." He objected. "Zach, that's okay. Maybe it's better not to love, because to love means getting eventually hurt. Why complicating things, darling? I like our relationship the way it is. We're a modern couple, no chains and no obligations." He was clearly not pleased about it and didn't bother to show it. Alexis tried to lighten his mood. "Let's stop talking about it. It's a perfect night. Please, let's not spoil it." She said, giving him a very flirtatious look. Zach's disappointment was quickly disappearing. He couldn't find it in himself to say no to her and they made their way up the steps to her bedroom. The Carlton Hotel- Dex's suite
Dex Dexter had hard time falling asleep. All of his efforts to locate Sable had not turned up a thing, it was as if she had vanished form the face of the earth, and Dex was in a vile mood this evening. Peter Richards his private eye hadn't checked in the previous evening as arranged, and Dex hated when people didn't keep appointments. He looked at his watch. It was ten passed midnight. He closed his eyes again when the shrill cry of the telephone woke him. "Dexter here" he spoke into the phone. "Mr. Dexter. This is Peter. I'm sorry I didn't check in last night, but I had a lead." Dex perked up, and asked. "Did anything pan out?" "I think we've hit the jackpot. A woman fitting Mrs. Colby's description was checked into the Clinic De Cabrera in Rome two days ago." Peter informed. "You think its Sable." Dex inquired. "Yes, although, there is no sign of Monica, or you son, I'm almost positive the woman is Sable Colby." "Great. I'll be on a flight in an hour." "Wait. Mr. Dexter. I have to arrange a meeting. The hospital staff has strict instructions that the patient has no visitors. I had to bribe an orderly to get the information I did." "Well I can't just wait here." Dex said as he pushed the papers form his sight. "I have to do something." "Take a flight in tomorrow, and I will try to arrange a way into the clinic in two days." Peter said, and he hoped he could come through with his promise. "Great. I'll make the arrangement, and I will call you first thing in the morning." Dex said. "Oh and try to locate Monica by then." Dex hung up the phone, thinking to him. If he did find Sable and Monica was around he wouldn't be able to see Sable or his son. He had to have a diversion, but what. "I have it…." Dex exclaimed as he picked up the phone. The Carrington Mansion -Adam's room: next morning
Adam woke up from a horrid sleep; his dreams of finding Dana too late plagued him all night long. He had decided to stay home form the office today. He had lied to the family about his reasoning. He walked over to the dresser and pulled the fax out that he had received form the previous night. It was a photo of Dana, and the words- COME IN TWO DAYS TIME TO THE CHRISTMAS SQUARE, BRING 1MILLION DOLLORS, NO POLICE, NO WEPONS, OR ELSE MRS. WARRING DIES. Adam knew that Mrs. Litton was crazy to send him a second fax; he knew that she meant business, but what he couldn't figure out was what the hell was Christmas square. But then it hit him it was a night club that Dana and he had hung out in back when they were married, but the place had been abandoned for three years now. Adam knew he had to go, and he couldn't involve anyone, not even the police, or else risk Dana's life, and Adam didn't want another life on his hands. "I'll meet you Mrs. Litton and I'll make you pay for all you've caused." A shady Motel in downtown Denver "Just what in the hell do you think you are doing." a high pitched voice emanating form the phone Mrs. Litton was holding said. "This was not part of our plan." "And neither was Jeremy's death." Mrs. Litton said calmly. "I want you to listen to me, and listen carefully." The voice stated. "You are to release Mrs. Warring immediately, and then take a flight to our offices in South America; you are going to be reassigned." Mrs. Litton knew exactly what reassigned meant. "Oh I don't think so. I'm in control now, and my plans do not involve you, so if you don't want implication into Mrs. Warring' kidnapping, and Adam Carrington's death. I suggest you take my cell phone number off of you speed dial." Mrs. Litton smiled as she terminated the call, slowly glancing at Dana's terror stricken face. "No one is going to stop me, or my plans for revenge." The voice on the other end of the call yelled. "Damn that woman. She is going to expose us all, and I can't allow that." She looked over to Henderson, one of the company's many paid assassins. "You are to follow Mrs. Litton, and if she tries anything foolish, she is to be terminated, but Mrs. Warring is not to be harmed in any way." Henderson smiled. "I understand." As he turned to leave he smiled once more. This was exactly his cup of tea. Alexis Colby's penthouse
Alexis and Zach sat at the breakfast table, talking about ColbyCo. "Zach, we've got to do something about Caress, she's impairing the reputation of ColbyCo. I would like to involve my sister in a fictitious transaction to keep her busy and away from serious operations." Alexis said, taking a sip of her grapefruit juice. Zach nodded. "It shouldn't be difficult to deceive her." "I could need your help, Zach." Alexis remarked, knowing that he couldn't refuse her anything right now. Zach was more than pleased about her request. He had her exactly where he want her. And every favor she asked him for tied her even more to him. "Don't worry Alexis; she'll be taken care of." He answered patronizing. Zach stood up from the table, finishing his coffee. "I've got to go." He said, leaning over and kissing her lips. In this moment the elevator doors opened and Amanda stepped in, seeing her mother and Zach Powers together. "I'll see you in the office, darling." He said self-confidently. "Bye bye Zachry" Alexis replied coolly. He smiled and approached to the elevator, spotting Amanda. Amanda wasn't thrilled to see him at all. Imagining her mother had probably spent the night with him made her feel sick. "Mr. Powers." She greeted him, her regret clearly apparent. Zach ignored it. "Good morning Amanda, it's always a pleasure to meet you." He greeted her back with his usual charming smile. Amanda walked up to the table. "Hello, mother" Amanda greeted her, taking a seat and looking at her reproachfully. Alexis stopped eating her toast. "Good morning, darling. What brings you here so early?" She asked, wondering how long Amanda had been watching her and Zach already.
"I thought I'd come join you for breakfast. But I saw you got already company." She replied, waiting for an explanation of this delicate situation. "Would you like some coffee?" Alexis asked, dismissing Amanda's remark and pouring her daughter a cup of coffee. "So… I got the feeling I disturb you and Zach" Amanda tried to dig in. "No, it's okay dear. He was about to leave any way" "You two seemed to be very close" Alexis picked up her juice, took a small sip, and rolled her eyes in annoyance. Amanda decided to cut to the heart of the matter. "Do you sleep with him, mother?" Alexis tried to put an end to Amanda's interrogation. "That really doesn't concern you, Amanda." She said firmly. "I'll take that as a yes then." Amanda said, her resentment clearly showing. "Mother, why? Why are you doing it? I'm sorry, but I don't understand, after our talk yesterday. I thought you told me you didn't love Zach." Alexis looked at her youngest daughter. "I appreciate your concern. But don't you think I know what's best for me?" "Obviously not" She replied quickly. Amanda thought for a moment and then placed her hand on Alexis's arm. "I thought you said you love Dex?" She inquired.
Alexis sighed. "I never said that, you did, and besides he has more than once shown his indifference toward me. I haven't heard anything from him in weeks. The last time we spoke at the hospital, and I rather want to forget it" "Why?, what happened?" "He blamed me for what happened to Sable." Alexis paused for a moment. "I've come to realize that he feels more committed to her and his son." She continued hurt. Amanda knew, admitting that must be hard on her. "I'm sorry mother, I know that it must have been hard on you, but I know Dex still cares" "Frankly I don't care, Dex is out of my life and that's the end of it" Alexis said. "All right, how are things going with Aunt Caress?" "Horrible, but I don't want to talk about it. Let's talk about you. We hardly had the chance to talk since the charity ball," Alexis said brushing away the thoughts of her sister. "How are you?" "I'm doing well surprisingly." Amanda said. "Adam and Joseph have been wonderful, they take care of Cathy, and I actually think she's going to be okay." "I know that I didn't know Max very well." Alexis stated. She had only met him once when she had visited Amanda after Cathy was born. "I'm sure that he was a good father." "He was the best." Amanda said. "She misses him very much, and so do I." "But" Alexis asked? Amanda smiled "But what, mother?" "You are involved with someone aren't you?" Alexis smiled, and ribbed her daughter. "No, I'm not; it's just that Jeff has been so helpful. I've grown to depend on him very much lately." Alexis frowned. "But he's your sister's husband?" "And that means he's off limits, I know, but we can still be friends." "Speaking of you sister, how is she?" Alexis inquired. "Fallon is Fallon." Amanda indicated the fights she had been having with her sister, and told Alexis about the misunderstanding that Fallon had seen. "Oh mommy, sometimes she can be so cruel." "Oh, tell me about that. She took her crazy temper from Blake. And god knows it doesn't helps that she is still living in the mansion" Amanda rolled her eyes, the person Fallon took after was actually Alexis, but neither would admit it. "Yes, she's having problems with Jeff also lately" "Well I'm sure they'll get over this. They've had problems before and gotten over them" "Yes, I guess so" Amanda nod with her head, but she couldn't help but think that maybe this time they wouldn't be able to get over the problems with their marriage. B "A business meeting" Amanda asked, hoping this meeting is strictly business. "Amanda, please!" "I just don't want to see you doing this mistake again. You don't love Zach Powers, you love Dex!" "You know the way out, dear. I have to go" "Promise me you will think about that" Amanda asked, but Alexis ignored her feelings. "Goodbye darling, have a nice day" Alexis said and left. Amanda smiled as the elevator doors closed, and a plan formed into her mind, she had to find Dex, and tell him how much his missed visit at the office hurt her mother, and convince him to go and see Alexis. "You do love him, mother. And you will be with him" she said to herself. click hereto continue... |
