Edward Goldobin -- Biography

I was born in Volgograd (Russia) in 1970. From 1977 to 1987 I was in school which I finished quite successfully -- with honor and silver medal. In 1987 I passed 5 exams and became a student of Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT), the Department of Physical and Quantum Electronics. I finished MIPT in 1993 with honor degree. Then successfully passed the exams and become a postgraduate student. In 1997 I finished the postgraduate courses and wrote my Ph.D. thesis. The defence of my Ph.D. thesis was on November 14, 1997 in the Institute of RadioEngineering and Electronics (IREE) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, where I've been working starting from 1991. My scientific activity is the the physics of Josephson junctions (JJ) and devices. Many times during my postgraduate studies I was working in the Institute of Thin Film & Ion Technology (now converted to ISG) (Research Center Juelich GmbH), Juelich, Germany. After defending my Ph.D. I have been working as a post-doctoral researcher in this Institute for 3 years. For a couple of years I was involved in 3D micromagnetic simulations of magnetization dynamics in ferromagnetic materials.

Since March 1st, 2001 I was working at Oxxel -- a small high-tech company situated in Bremen (Germany) which had an ambitious aim to build oxide electronic devices based on copper-oxides (high-temperature superconductors and manganites) materials. Unfortunately the money of investors finished earlier than we expected and the company had to stop its activity.

Now, I am an assistant in the group of of Prof. Kleiner and Prof. Koelle at the university of Tübingen (Germany). I continue my research work in the area of superconductivity, Josephson junctions and non-linear dynamics. I follow the research work of several Ph.D. and diploma students and also teach several courses. Visit the pages of our group for details.
