September 13, 1998     Volume 4-9

Published by the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 108, Fort Walton Beach, Florida

Meeting Highlights: Meeting was opened at 7:10 and started with a very thorough and well-received presentation by Gerry Poltorak about Stinson Aircraft and the Stinson aviation family. A short business meeting was conducted with reports from the Secretary, Treasurer, and the Young Eagle coordinator. A decision was made by those present to change the planned project visits to a Fly-in at Bob Sikes Airport in Crestview. The date planned is November 21st and it is hoped that all of the Chapter aircraft will be able to attend. The Chapter is pleased to welcome four new members. John Jones, Mike Scroggins, Dick Carr and Sonny Goc-ong all became members at the August meeting. Welcome!

Treasurer: Six dues were collected for the last six months for $36.00.
Expenditures: $38.43 for Young Eagles.
Cash on Hand: $100.00
Checking Account Balance: $1077.23
Balance:      $1177.23

Young Eagles: Nine young people for the summer school Starbase Atlantis in Milton. The flights were conducted from the Chapter 108 Hangar Mates hanger. The attempt the previous week was rained out and unfortunately the turnout for the second week was down to less than half the number that attended the first weekend. The local paper did cover the event for both the rain day and the day we were able to fly.

South East Regional Fly-In: An update on the status of SERFI preparations was also given. At the present time all planning is on schedule. A work day will probably be scheduled in the nest couple of weeks to support the event which will takes place 9-11 October 98.

Yellow River Picnic Update: An update for the scheduled September 26, 1998 picnic at Yellow River Airport was given by Tom Julian. The McCutchan family will provide and cook fish for the occasion and hamburgers, hot dogs and sodas will be arranged for by the Yellow River Airport Owners. Other attendees are asked to bring a side dish or desert. Also bring a few chairs. A flyer will accompany the next newsletter.
