The
National Standards for Music Education








Along with the above educational
objectives for both the fifth and sixth grade, I will also
implement the Nine Performance Standards for Music set up by the
Music Educators National Conference. These National
Standards include the following:
Standard 1 - Singing, alone and with
others, a varied repertoire of music.
Standard 2 - Performing on instruments,
alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music.
Standard 3 - Improvising melodies,
variations, and accompaniments.
Standard 4 - Composing and arranging
music within specified guidelines.
Standard 5 - Reading and notating
music.
Standard 6 - Listening to, analyzing, and
describing music.
Standard 7 - Evaluating music and music
performance.
Standard 8 - Understanding relationships
between music, the other arts, and disciplines outside the
arts.
Standard 9 - Understanding music in
relation to history and culture.
