Day 9, August 13 -- We woke up and had a breakfast of orange juice, pop tarts, hot chocolate, fruit loops and milk.  We broke camp at 8:30 am to begin our longest hike of our trek to our next camp at Cimarroncito.  It was 8 1/2 up and down miles.  Our trail lunch today was squeeze cheese, freeze dried peaches, melba toast, and pink lemon aid and taffy candy.   Our view was of the surprising Devil's Wash basin.  It's a lake drilled into hard rock of the Deer Mesa by whirl-winds of centuries of twisting their abrasive sands.

With brilliant navigation of Gordon Wells, we arrived right on target at Cimarroncito.  Jamie Armine of Beaufort, SC was here from HQ awaiting our crew to take some more public relations photos of our crew high in the rocks of time less beauty.

It was also here where we had another opportunity to secure the rest of our commissary goods.  We checked out the "swap box"  outside the commissary and were able to put together an interesting feast of beef stew, biscuits, cheese cake, our own success at making a peach cobbler and chocolate milk shakes.

With our stomachs full we went to bed early.  For we would be up very early in the morning for our rock climbing session.

Day 10, August 14 -- We rolled out of bed at 7:00 am to a breakfast of flapjacks, sausage, and milk.  Then donning helmets and shouldering ropes we joined Mike Cooper our rock climbing instructor in scaling the heights of Cimarroncito.  We all climbed a 50 foot wall of rock and repelled down a 50 foot wall of rock.  By the end of our stay here we were all addicted to rock climbing.  From a high point you could see the Tooth of Time ridge.  Back at camp we had a lunch of dehydrated chicken salad, crackers, cookies, and nestles crunch bars for dessert.  In the afternoon we set off for more side hike and blazed vertical trails for more high points on the rocks where we found more great views.  Back at camp  Rob set before us a dinner of Beef Stroganoff, peas and carrots, biscuits, and cherry drink.  After dinner and after sunset we took a night hike to look for wildlife maybe a bear or two.  Our search for a bear was unsuccessful but we did see some deer and other small animals.  The staff told us that there were bears spotted around our campsite the night before and to make sure we had all smellables in our bear bag tonight.  Day 11, August 15 -- At a yawning 4:00 am, Rob, Mike K, David, Larry, Gordon and myself crawled out of our sleeping bags to watch the sunrise over the Tooth of Time Ridge. What a beautiful site.
