The family had moved to Shotton by 1866 where their second son Patrick Airley was born on the 14th March in the Colliery village. Patrick was baptised in April the same year in the nearby village of Easington at The Church of Our Blessed Lady and St.Thomas. By 1868 John and Ann had moved to Seaham Colliery where they remained for the rest of their lives. The same year Ann gave birth to the couples first daugther called Lizzie, born in Office Row on the 29th December.
Three years later in 1871 the couple had yet another boy John Airly born on the 17th February John's life was short, he died in July of 1891 aged 20 following a blow to the head whilst working down Seaham Colliery. Surprisingly the coriners veredict was death by natural causes as there were no witnesses present, John never married.
In 1874 on the 9th February another girl was born, Mary Ann Early. Lizzie, John and Mary Ann were all baptised at St.Mary Magdelene,s RC Church. Mary Ann married on the 8th November 1902 at the ripe old age of 28 years to Peter Murtha with whom she was residing with at the time. Their marriage took place at the Roman Catholic Church of Wallsend, Newcastle. The couples residence at the time of marriage was 25 Rawdon Road Wallsend.
Only one more child was born, James on the 23rd March 1876. John never saw this child as he died on 8th August in 1875, aged just 43 years of a lung/mining related illness. James life too was short, he died early in March 1877 just short of his 1st Birthday.
Ann Early died in 1892 aged 58 years having seen her husband and 2 sons die before her.
Many of these Early's including John and Ann are burried at Christ Church New Seaham opposite the old Colliery entrance. St.Mary Magdalene's has no burial ground.
