Drikara at Alabaster...

Hatching here!

Drikara had been amazed at first sight of Alabaster - with it's unique architecture, it was quite a sight to behold. R'lan had laughed - "Wait until you meet Lord Holder Engell."

Engell himself was rather awe inspiring. He had a presence that made younglings wary and reverant at the same time. Life at the Weyrhold was much like life at the Weyr, the biggest difference being the people.

When the hatching day came, Drikara found herself among the candidates - waiting.

Then, suddenly, the eggs began to crack, and the Impressing began. Two eggs broke, and a blue and a green appeared, each avoiding the other as they wove around the remaining eggs to thier choices. The green snarled at the blue, her eyes red with anger. The girl beside Drikara gasped, and admonished her dragonet.

KulerthThe blue calmly looked up at Drikara, meeting her eye-to-eye.

It is you that I wanted, anyway, not that other one. I couldn't care less if she wants to protect her. I will be with you forever.

Drikara gasped. "Oh, Kulerth! Really?"

Well I am not just 'saying' it! Together they left the sands, wary of the green and her rider, but both girls tried to keep a smile on thier faces as their dragonets hisses and spat like angry felines.

When Kulerth was fed, bathed, and oiled, Drikara fell back into the sand and closed her eyes. She knew, without looking, that Kulerth had curled up mere inches away.

DrikaraA shadow fell across her, blocking the sun, so she opened her eyes, only to look up into the smiling faces of her parents, Ikara and bluerider D'run. Drikara grinned, and got up from the sand like a shot. She hugged her mother and her father, while the little blue hatchling got up to see what all the fuss was about.

"Kulerth, thse are my parents..." she guestured from teh draogn to the two adults. The blue looked a bit skeptical. They're nice, Kulerth, really."

If you say so. The blue said and trotted over, headbutting each in the leg affectionately.

"Nice little fellow you've got there, Drikara." D'run said, smiling.

Ikara beamed - her daughter, a bluerider! "You'll be coming back to Ryslen, right?"

"Of course! But Kulerth has to grow up first." Drikara said without hesitation. "Speaking of growing up, where are Alonndo and Leyken? I was sure they'd be here - are they mad that I went and they didn't?"

D'run looked away, but Ikara didn't. "They're not mad, Drikara, hun. They're busy. Very busy." Ryslen's headwoman's second said.

"You'll see 'em when you get back to Ryslen, I'm sure of it." D'run added, "They'll be so happy to see you..."

Soon, they left, leaving Drikara and Kulerth to grow up with the rest of the weyrlings.

Kulerth is growing up!
