Sailing North We set sail from Pittwater for Newcastle with Roger my coach and Julie on 18 May 2003 and arrived at the Newcastle Yacht Club new marina at 1530 hours the same day, light winds. Roger and Julie. |

![]() Coffs Harbour The next morning off to Port Stephens for 2 days an easy comfortable sail. Then off to Sugar Loaf, a bit rolly polly here so on to Coffs Harbour overnight arriving the next day at 1615 hrs, after a couple of days we departed for Yamba and moored in Iluka Bay |

![]() Evening Star on pontoon at MacLean Most of our sailing has been with the wind abaft the beam a truly beautiful way to cruise and Evening Star has performed beautifully, the pilot has been like having another crewman on board. The weather deteriorated in Yamba so we decided to go up the Clarence River for 2 nights, met up with Alan Lucas the Cruising Books Author in his new yacht and had great fun in Maclean and other towns with cute pubs up the river. |

![]() Harwood Bridge in the Clarence (it does open) We sailed overnight after crossing the bar at Yamba which was a bit rough, and arrived after an overnight sail at Southport a well organised bar also a bit tricky this day to cross. We completed some service on the main engine and departed for an interesting inland passage to Moreton Bay nearly going aground at Jacobs Well but our shallow draft got us through (1.75 metres) and arrived at the RQYS in Manly and stayed there for a week |
