Nana Akua

NANA AKUA

Farming is the main background of Ghana, and cocoa is what Ghana is known of growing. since I was six I will be going to the farm with my grandma and other cousins which some of them is about 8 miles away from home. The shortest farms will be at least 4 miles away. You may ask yourself: what kind of car did we drive to the farm? The answer is our foot! Grandma struggled with her children to get land to work on, she will grow food like: Yam, plantain, cassava, potatoes, tomatoes, pepper etc. After that, she will let people clear the food from the bushes and the she will plant her cocoa which will need more attention than most of the crops. cocoa takes years to grow so we will put water on in during the harmmatan and peg it during raining season. When the cocoa bear beans, we will plug it with her, break the pods, get the beans out, dry it for about a week, then load it in sacks and carry in home with her.
