Alicia is the Latin and Spanish form of Alice, the modern English form of Adelaide. Adelaide contracted to Adelais to Adeliz to Aliz to Alice.

History:
Alicia was the usual Latinate form used in medieval records for girls named Alice. It was occasionally used in England by Romantic writers during the 19th century. It became highly popular, especially in the United States during the last half of the twentieth century.
