Honey (1997) Honey fue elegido como primer single de su séptimo disco "Butterfly". Con esta canción Mariah comenzó a demostrar una mayor influencia del Hip Hop en sus melodías y una notable madurez en sus letras. El sencillo salió a la venta el 26 de agosto y entró directamente en el #1 del Hot 100 Billboard. Con esta hazaña Mariah se convertía en la artista que más veces ha debutado en el primer lugar de ventas Honey permaneció en el top de los ránkings por tres semanas y mostró a una liberada Mariah, después de su bullada separación matrimonial. La canción fue producida por Puff Daddy y tuvo 3 diferentes remixes con distintos raperos invitados como Mase & The Lox, Da Brat y Jermaine Dupri. Las abultadas ventas otorgaron a Mariah un nuevo disco de platino por más de 1 millón de copias.
