Samhain
The last harvest and the
time of reflection, the time to honor the Ancients who have gone on before
us. The time of "Seeing", when the veil between the worlds is
thin and we look with the mind's eye.
As we contemplate the Wheel of the Year, we come to recognize our own part
in the eternal cycle of life. From now until Yule, the days grow
darker and colder. Thus begins a time of darkness. At Samhain, we
celebrate all that has gone before.
Winter Solstice
The days have grown so short. The Ancients wondered if the days
would continue to shorten until the Sun no longer rose in the East.
On this night, the Shaman gathered the clan to have them call back the
Sun. With stories and voice, movement and rhythm the Ancients called
back the Sun to light the world. To warm the Earth with the promise
of Spring.
A look back, a look ahead. What light have you carried this year?
Is it the same as the one you started the year with? What light do
you want to carry into next year?
