Guide #9 How to download files from FTP sites

This is a guide to help you download movies from ftps. FTP stands for file transfer protocol. There are two types of FTPs, Pubs and Privates FTPS. The difference between the two is that you need to have a login ID and a password to access a private FTP. There are a lot of message boards where people post links to movies that they uploaded to pubs. First of all, a pub is any place that allows anonymous login to its ftp site. Some of the time a pub will be a large school or university with a very fast internet connection. They used to be very good targets but they have been cracking down on this recently so they are hard to come by now! Good pubs are usually rare and once found they are jealously guarded. The people who upload movies to pubs are usually very kind people who are willing to spend hours ripping, packing, and upping a movie to a pub where it could be deleted in a second by the sysadmin.

Tools: An ftp program i.e. CuteFTP, SmartFTP, Flash FXP all available at www.download.com and you can get a trial version there then d/l a keygen or something off morpheus www.musiccity.com Step 1: Finding a message board where people post links to movies on pubs! Just go into the links section! I reccomend DivxStation, UWWWB, DarkFXP and there are many more out there that are very good! Step 2: Find a link Most places will require you to leave your email or email someone to get the link. They do this so that the pub won't be attacked by a million people at once cause then the speed would suck for everyone and no one would be able to download anything! Other places just post the links on the message board but those pubs tend to die quickly! Step 3: Download the Movie Simply paste the ip address of the pub followed by the location into one of the FTP programs above ie 194.168.0.1/tmp/filled by whomever/for whateverboard/name of movie. You can also use M$ IE but it is not nearly as good. For IE just use ftp://login:password@194.168.0.1:21/tmp/filled by whomever/for whateverboard/name of movie. The blue number is the port number that you are trying to connect to. The default port or FTP sites is 21 but most private ones use some obscure port number. Once you gain access to the folder simply download the file(s) that you want!

Locked Directories:
It is possible for uploads to make locked directories so that if you do not know the exact location of the files you won't be able to download them! The are usually called com1, lpt1, prn.screw.deleters, tmp and various other ones. If you are just looking around in the directories of a pub and you see a folder with that name you won't be able to open it! If you are interested in uploading movies to pubs then you will need to know how to make these files so just download this file and this file!
