What college did you attend? Auburn University
What do you think every teacher needs to know to be a successful teacher? To be successful a teacher as well as an administrator needs to know each child as an individual and have an open line of communication with parents, friends, community leaders, and significant others. Both need students who are eager to learn, parents who are active participants in their child's education and access to current reliable resources.
What do you think makes Vaughn Road School a special place to learn and grow? Vaughn Road is a special place because of its diverse student body. This diversity invites team building, shared responsibility, and cooperative learning in which everyone benefits.
What do you like about the subject(s) you teach? I like getting to know the children. the students at Vaughn Road are so wise and talented that it's a challenge to provide them with the materials and resources needed to stimulate their curiosity.
What was your favorite subject in elementary school? As a child, I was able to visit far away places, participate in extraordinary events, and explore the wonders of life, science, geography ad imagination through reading.
What are your away-from school hobbies? I enjoy going to antique auctions, estate sales, etc. I enjoy collecting and refinishing old pieces of furniture, especially pieces which are antique or those which have a story to tell.
If you have pets at home or in the classroom, what are they and their names? We have a great dane dog named Deuce and one cat named Keno which we adopted from the Humane Shelter.
What is your favorite childrens book? The Little Engine That Could reminds me that perseverance is half the battle.
What is your favorite color? Any earth tone - especially blue
What are your favorite foods? Cheese, peanut butter (with chocolate)
