SPRING Hurray, Hurray, the sun is out. I know Spring's here, without a doubt Pies are sweet, birds will tweet. Children like to get ice cream, You can smell the barbeque steam. Flowers are growing, The sun is glowing. Kites are high Way up in the sky. The bees are busy getting honey, Hop, hop, hop, there goes the bunny. You're in luck, if you find a four-leaf clover, That's why I wish, Spring's never over. MY BLANKET My blanket is so warm, I snuggle in it when there's a storm. My blanket is so cozy, It has red flowers that are so rosy My blanket is so busy, as you can see, But my blanket is never too busy for me. FLOWERS In the Spring flowers bloom, and make a pretty sight. In the Summer some flowers bloom over night. They wake up in the morning, just to say hello, And when the sun goes down, back to sleep they go. IT'S SNOWING It's snowing, it's snowing, And the wind is blowing. Outside the snow is piling up high, It keeps falling from the sky. When it stops at noon, Then I'll be outside to play very soon. PEBBLEY THE SMALL HERO Once there was a rock that was smaller than a pebble. The other rocks would make fun of him and call him a wimp. He had no friends, except for the wisest rock in Rockland. They called him Wisdom. Wisdom called the smallest rock, Pebbly. One day in Rockland, some hunters came to look for rocks in Rockland for their sling shots. The hunters saw the big rocks and took them. Wisdom and Pebbly rolled, but the hunters saw Wisdom and took him. Pebbly was so little the hunters didn't see him, so Pebbly rolled by the hunters legs and tripped them. The bag full of rocks fell and they all escaped. And from that day on, all the rocks in Rockland loved Pebbly. WHEN YOU HAVE BIRTHDAYS,YOU GET OLDER Birthdays, birthdays they are so fun. You have a lot, not just one When you are one, you will turn two, But still you are not old enough to go to school! As you get older, you don't believe in the tooth fairy, But you get to watch movies that are scary. Probably when you are fourteen, you will get kisses. In ten more years or later you will be Mr. or Mrs. THANKSGIVING GRACE 1991 Today we join together to say thanks for the important things in our lives, like us. We also say thanks to all the people in our lives, who care for us. We should especially thank God for letting us have a home and some food, on the table, for some people do not have anything. There are a lot of things to be thankful for, but the best thing to be thankful for is that we all have each other, here today. And one more thing, we should take the time to say a prayer for grandma to get better, and come home soon. THE WORLD IS A LOVELY PLACE The world is a lovely place, For everyone has a different face. Its God's world, not ours, It has tree, animals, people and flowers. The world has many different things. Dogs with tails, cats with whiskers, and fish with fins. The world has a moon and a sun, Lots of stars to share the fun. The world has a blue sky, green oceans, And mountains very high. The world has your mother, father and your friend. If you keep the world clean, it will never end. A LONELY TEN YEAR OLD When I'm feeling down, I feel very brown. Then when I cry, I just want to die. It hurts inside, Like a very ugly Roller coaster ride. 'Cause: I just want a friend! THE OTHERS The little ones kick and scream, They always want more ice cream. The older they get, the worse they become, They think they're cool, but they're really dumb. Now at my age, they're a big, big pain. I think, we all agree, they drive us insane. We can't live with them, is what some people say, But we can't live without them, even for a day. They're really great, as bad as they seem. Sometimes they can be sweet, And if you try and look hard enough, They can be neat. What I'm trying to say through all the noise, These strange creatures are what we call boys. A CHILD'S LAMENT (Eleven years and Counting) Y'all think I try to cop an attitude, When I really don't. Y'all tell me things to do, And you think I won't. When I'm downstairs telling you things, I did RIGHT. Ya just walk away and say, I might. Then I write songs like this, And then y'all just ig. I go upstairs, cry and throw a fit, Then ya come upstairs getting rit. Then y'all ask why I'm crazy. Then ya tell me I'm lazy. I've been takin' dis all my life, And I'm fed up, But I'm gonna keep my head up. MY DADDY My daddy is like a big soft cuddly teddy bear, But he's tough. Inside, his soft deep kindness, he has in his heart, Shows when he loves you. Outside he's tough and don't push him too far! KEEP ON DREAMING I heard that Marvin Gaye use to sing it out, He made you feel good, To be Black without a doubt. Even though we couldn't do all that stuff, Now we can and it still is rough. I remember back them, when it was safe, You could walk the streets without getting raped. Now you gotta watch your back on the street, Or you are going to get beat. (yeah) I don't know why the world's like this, When we go around taking risks. Cops throw us in jail without no guilt, Our reputations are being built. Like 2-Pac, trying to make a dollar Out of Fifteen cents, So we're not crawling to parents For money for rent. If you want the world to be a better place, Keep on dreaming, It'll go your way. Keep on dreaming, It'll be all right. I'll be going to school; people calling me names. I gotta stay in gear, or they'll be in pain. We'll be acting up, just to be cool, Instead of being good, we break all the rules. Then the teacher's get upset, Until they can't even teach the good ones. Brother's with guns, trying to be hype. Then the honeys slap them outright. You can't go nowhere without getting shot, And you see prostitutes looking hot. Our world is getting pretty messed up, If you want to change it, keep your head up. So just keep on dreaming, till things go your way. Keep on dreaming, it'll be all right. Keep on dreaming, just keep on dreaming. A CHILD'S LETTER I was born with ADHD; People thought I was crazy. They said I was bad And acted just like a baby. But I credit some people, 'Cause the thought I could change. Now I'm starting to go to that range. Even though sometimes I get mad, I have to credit both my mom and dad, Because they always said I would do better. Now, I'm starting to, in this letter. Remember that day when we were watching that movie, And you asked me who I wanted to be? As I sat there with complete insight, I gladly said Wesley Snipes. My Dad said great, now you have a gift, Go upstairs and start writing your script. I smiled then I said, "Good, now I got a goal, I'm not going to give up until I get the gold." MAGIC KEY You are like a friend to me, I just don't love you because You are my aunt, But because you are like a magic key. You can open up anyone's heart, Especially mine, because I love you a lot. LIKES AND DISLIKES I don't like to spy. I don't like to lie. I don't like taking a shower. But I have to, for about an hour. I like being there for my family and friends. I like being there until the day ends. I like playing in the snow... But when I slip on the ice, OH NO!
